I'm asking this because, yes, I'm 15, and I don't know how to go about asking them if it would be all right if I saw this guy sometimes. I am responsible, I'm always home on time, etc... basically a "good kid". Anyway, I don't exactly have a "talking" relationship with my parents, even though I've tried to make that so. I know they should meet him, etc..

How would you want your daughter to bring up the matter of dating? Thanks for any advice... I want this to work out, but obvoiusly I have to have my parents approval before I could spend time with him.

remind them about how responsible you are, tell them about the boy and his family. Suggest they help you plan a "date" that way they know you respect them, and appreciate there help and adivse. Don't tell them all of my friends are dating, and don't talk back, stay calm and focused. Also, tell them that you are glad that you were able to talk to them because a lot of teens can't speak to there parents. This might help open the lines of communication for the future.

I know this is hard, but you really should go to your parents and ask for their advise. My kids came right out and asked me when they would be able to car date and I had to explain right now they are not old enough (although very mature) to handle car dating, so we set and age and standards now. See part of the issue is I can trust my kids, its the people there with that makes me a little worried. Best of luck.

i think instead of asking to see a certain guy "sometimes", it would be better to ask if you could go on a specific date. you know, meet the guy, have a destination and a curfew. after a few of those, they'll be more acceptable to you seeing him more often. many 15 yr olds don't have "talking" relationships with theit folks. this could get one going. good luck.
