She said to eat as many as I wanted for snacks, and while I really want to trust her, it's kind of hard to believe they are "freebies." Won't the calories still make me fat? Can I just eat as much as my little heart desires?

There are different diets, some say its ok, some say its not. She is assuming that your not going to have a lot, especially since your only supposed to have like 3 snacks?

Let me tell you the science behind it, and you decide for yourself. When you have foods that are high in sugar/carbs, they cause your blood sugar to rise. When your blood sugar rises, insulin stores the extra sugar as FAT. So you dont want to have any high glycemic fruits (like watermelon), and if you do, have very little.

If you take a look at the diet of most serious bodybuilders (these people are the most fit and care the most about their physique), you will notice that many will not have fruits because of the reason explained above.

But either way, calories are still calories, and whether we are talking about calories from carbs, fats, or protein, if they arent burned off, they will get stored as fat, so think about that. With my diet, I was only consuming 1200 calories a day, if I were to have 15 one hundred calorie fruits and NOT EVEN HAVE ONE REAL MEAL, I wouldnt be following my diet.

Oh and I know it sounds like I am contradicting myself by saying that high blood sugar levels cause fat to be stored and then I say if you burn it off, it wont be stored right below that, its a little bit more technical than that, but lets just keep it simple for now.

you are wright to doubt your dietitian - fruit have lots of calories (a big apple has 100cal) which come from sugar (fructose).
fructose is digested in kidneys and put a lot of pressure on them just like alcohol.
you shouldnt have more than 4 a day. and not eat more than 2 servings of fruit at once.
