I'm trying to become a model, and my only real issues are my tummy, love handles, rear end, and upper arms. I've always had a belly, and I've never been able to get rid of it. I also have a bit of a problem with many workout routines because I have bad knees from dancing for over 8 years (arthritis in a teenager sucks).
Anywho, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how to lose about five or ten pounds, mainly off my rear, tummy, love handles, and upper arms without over-working my knees.
Oh, and I can't really afford a gym membership right now :(

Also: I don't eat fast food or junk. I eat a subway turkey sandwich each day for lunch, dinner is usually a lean cuisine, diet/protein bar, or cereal, and breakfast is cereal or a diet/protein bar.

belly fat ist he last layer of fat to burn, you need to do cardio
females have knee problems because our hamstrings are stronger than our quads. riding a bike strengthens our quads, balancing the pressures put on our knees, and riding a bike is easy on the knees if your bike is sized correctly. dont' accept the diagnosis of arthritis, it's often misdiagnosed and dancing for twenty years doesn't cause arthritis.
lifting weights is essential to burning fat because the more dense the muscles are the more calories you'll burn when you do your cardio.
lifting weights and riding a bike will tone your butt, tummy and upper arms, to add firmness. lift light with several reps and do lots of stretches to lengthen the muscle and to keep your muscles from bulking up.
you'll start loving your shape.

It is hard that you cannot afford a gym membership because the best piece of equipment for someone in your condition is an elliptical trainer. I also have horrendous knees and this machine has gotten me fully rehabbed enough that I no longer feel pain.
I would say that your best bet is going to be to do sitting down weight work on your arms, like arm raises etc.
For your rear, you are going to have problems due to your knees because stair squats are about the best way to target that area.
I would honestly suggest this to you, if you cannot afford a gym membership, start asking for someone to gift one to you for the next gift giving occasion, or if you have health insurance, find out if they will pay your membership as some plans actually do.
Good luck

Diet is the most important - cut carbs by cutting down on Breads, grains, etc. South-Beach diet is a great diet... Did you know it was started as a diet for heart patients? Far better than Atkins.
For low-impact exercise, start swimming, but don't dig into water aerobics, etc. that just won't do. Get your cardiovascular system to work out too by swimming laps and/or distance. Several strokes will help you with your problem areas. If you feel defeated swimming, buy a pair of sport-fins - they'll give you that boost you need for confidence and won't detract from the benifit of your work out at all. :)
Apart from that there are several low-impact exercise systems on the market, many that are affordable. But honestly - swimming is one of the best exercises on the planet.
Good luck!

Eat healthy foods (more green, lesser meat). You should not starve yourself.... Do some YOGA moves, it's the best exercise cuz it does not only involve muscle strengthening & good bone contour but it calms the brain as well. If you can do 15 mins of YOGA everyday and walking 2x a week that would be great. It's arthritis-friendly too!
Remember though, that being a health-conscious should not be for any "secondary gain" or it will weaken the purpose of it.
Eat smart. Exercise. Love yourself.

You don't need a gym membership. You have everything you need at home. Rapid walking... crunches ( not situps)......milk cartons filled with water are great weights... hold above your head with both hands and slowly lower behind your head for your arms. Use them as weights to build your biceps. I'm also selling a product that you might try that burns body fat, but keeps muscle mass. You lose inches. It has NO side effects. It's not a pill or powder.. it's a patch. The cheapest way to get it is to go to preferred customer and the cost is reduced. Go to www.nexagenusa.com/dlpearson. This patch works and you have no worries about side effects. Great results.

Heres the deal according to the Orthopedic community Vitamin E and glucosamine supplements, MSM etc DO NOT heal or regrow cartilage, that is a MYTH. Exercise your abductors and aductors it is very important to streghthen the area to prevent slippage/locking of the knee cap. I had the surgery in my left knee due to the fact the cartilage was torn around the kneecap and very thin. So thin the doctor said he easily poked holes in it during the surgery. Treadmill is terrible for your knees, as well as high impact biking. I have the same thing in the other knee,If it continues where the cartilage is too worn you could need knee replacement later in life.

I can relate. I also have really bad knees. My suggestion would be to cut sugar and lower your carbs. Eating right will help you loose five pounds quick. Then I would work on walking if you can for extra muscle in your legs and butt. I would lift weights or find ways to get some extra muscle in your arms. Good Luck!!!

I think you need to start swimming. It is better for your joints and a great workout. And eat healthier. Make treats your reward only if you meet your goals. Like, 5 extra laps gets you ice cream. 3 gets you cookies etc...
I am NOT a doctor, but I play one on the internet.

switch to a vegetarian diet...cut carbs...eat water based foods like veggies and salad items. if you want protein that will metabolize faster eat beans and hummus and things of that nature. metabolizing faster=more fat burned faster. as far as exercises....use one of those work out balls and try yoga...its amazing for toning everywhere and it's not hard on the knees. it's hard on the abs.
