Absolutely! My boyfriend isn't the greatest looking guy but when he makes me laugh, I just fall apart like a little girl. Not to mention that he has a southern accent (Alabama) and when he says "baby" ... OOOOH, fahhggeduboutit. Someone below said that looks can fade and that's totally true. Find someone that'll make you laugh forever because you never know how they're going to look 30 years from now and they're personalities will always keep you around. You want someone who's your best friend and makes you feel good about yourself ... not just cuz they're hot and you feel special that you "landed" them. :-) Some of the hottest guys I've dated in my life have turned out to be the BIGGEST a**sholes... ya know why? Cuz it's all they've got (*is their looks) and they think they can get by on them forever so why should they have to behave themselves or be charming?

How one measures this is by the string of choices that one makes, however even the best looking people make bad choices. In order to judge a person by their personality alone requires extended periods of time together observing one another. That is why good looks help in first encounter situations. Judging some one based solely on one or the other is no good.

I have and it took me months to even hold his hand or look him in the eye. I eventually liked him more and more so his 'looks' or lack thereof, grew on me. We ended up dating one another a year and a half. He is still a kind, gentleman to this day. I think the reason I was not into his 'look' was he had an old looking face for his age (30), hairy arms like a baby chimp, hairy eyebrows and didn't really groom himself the way I was used to with other men. I've since stopped being shallow and look past the looks and into the personality and attributes. It made me a better preson, too.

Well, it depends... Ever notice how someone's appearance can change once you get to know them better? A very attractive person can become the most ugly person in the world to you once you see their true colors. Whereas, a person who you might not have looked twice at, suddenly becomes very beautiful/handsome once you find out how wonderful they really are.

Appearances only get you so far. It's the personality that really counts!

Yes, I had a great 3 year relationship with a unattactive guy his personality was amazing and made up for everything else. The relationship ended due to our lives going in opposite directions but we are still great friends to this day.

not to sound concieted or shallow, but that was the only 'unattractive' guy I went out with. The other eight (?) were extremely goodlooking and made other girls jealous. But that's not why I went out with them.
