Since he's going to college, try giving him a giftcard to a place like staples or office max for around $50. Then you can spend another $50 on something personal for him like a really nice pic of you and him framed or even some cd's since he DJed at your party.

it's like cash, except in credit card form. either that, get him a giftcard to Apple. incoming college students can always use giftcards to electronic stores.
