Seriously, if an overweight person started a running regimen along with some pushups and situps, would they just bulk up or would the excess fat shrink/go away?

Eat Veggies, grilled skinless chicken breasts, and grilled fish.

Cross training is really a great way to go.

Sunday - Try running a mile then walking a mile. If you can't do the full mile running that is fine. Push as far as you can.

Monday - Run .10 mile sprints 5 times. Cool down between each. Jog/speed walk .5 mile.

Tuesday - Ride a stationary bike for 45 minutes. Then do 35 of each.

Sit ups
Crunches
Bicycle Sit ups

Wednesday - Take off and let your body heal.

Thursday - Run again. Same as Monday. Push as best you can.

Friday - Weight Training. Work on your upper boddy and lower body.

Saturday - Take off.

A lifestyle of eating healthy and working out properly will change your body in dramatic ways. Be patient. Results come with time, not overnight.

Note - Increase your workout as you get in better shape. Go on runs of longer distance. Ride longer on the bike. Lift more weight or add more reps. Good luck!

Running doesn't tend to bulk anyone up, but makes them more lean...women can't bulk up anyway (we don't have the right hormones for that) so it's not an issue for us at all.

Running is a great way to lose weight but hard on the legs, feet, and back...have good quality shoes and start off with brisk walking and build up to jogging or running.

Pushups are good for the chest and arms, situps are great for toning the abs...if someone is very overweight, they definitely need to do toning exercises along the way to keep things firm and less jiggly.

There are some good intensity practise that any possible do. in case you seek youtube or google there are distinctive workouts which you're able to do. Doing rapid workout is from time to time greater advantageous than easy yet long workout. some people could disagree as after some extreme workout you will likely have been given drained and stopped halfway. So come across a fashion that maximum almost suits you. do no longer consume too a lot yet do no longer starve your self. on your tips, it quite is alright to consume greater at morning and afternoon yet do no longer consume a lot at nighttime. fat shop genuinely at nighttime (actuality). you may attempt some activities which you like additionally. do no longer provide up and good success =)

Muscle weighs more than fat, so yes, as the person works out, the fat should start to go away. It would take a lot more for someone to go from overweight/obese to "bulked up"-not a direct path.

running is a great way to loose weight all over your body. Initially from what I have noticed- running does not make you bulk up. Instead you loose weight and develop lean muscles which can be improve with weights.

running is a good cardio and cardio is the only fat burning exercise -it burns fat all over body (we cant spot reduce body fat)
pushups and sit ups only build muscle - they do not burn fat.
cardio alone will slim you down.
if you do less than 30min cardio and less than 4 times a week and do pushups and sit ups you most likely will have bigger arms and belly - but again it depends on your shape in the beginning.

They would get healthier and leaner.
More than just exercise is needed. Definitely a change in diet also.
