It really depends on the level you are on. I love sprinting because it burns MAJOR calories and gives my heart a good workout, too. I also love bicycling, speed walking, and just plain running.

Anything that'll get your body moving and heart pumping is great. What do you like to do? The "best" overall might be something you don't like, but the best for you is one or several exercises you will stick with.

Walking briskly, jogging, bicycling, dancing, rollerblading, trikking, swimming, aerobics, and the list could go on.

Take a look at this site http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calories_burned.htm It has a calories burned calculator with a list of activities. You can tell it how long you want to exercise and it will tell you how many calories you'll burn at each activity, or you can tell it how many calories you want to burn and it will tell you how long you'll need to perform each activity.

I like running because you can vary the degree of cardio. You can jog slowly then speed it up and even sprint at times. By the way sprinting builds good lean muscle. But in my opinion, running has always been my fav.

the best exercise for "you" is the one that you are most effecient at performing. for maximum stimulation of the metabolism you need to exercise at a high level of intensity for 60-80 minutes (unless you are doing HIIT).

The best would be something that burns calories while your doing it, and for hours after. Do high intensity interval training (HIIT) - look it up or jumproping. Both are great.
