Have you thought about a poster board collage at the guest sign in table and/or where your putting the seating cards. This will give people something to do before you get to the wedding. Usually the venue has an easel you can use for this.

I like it when there is a table set up, off to the side after the table where guests sign the book when they come to the reception, with the photos. Then people can look right away, or go over any time during the reception to see the photos.

Take photos of yourselves from the time you met through the current time, both separately and together, scan them to a computer and print them out various sizes (smallish). Cut them out and glue them to some sort of wooden or plastic 'stake'. Put plants in to colorful pots, add 4-5 of the picture stakes that will cover the time span in to it at different heights. Instant centerpieces! You not only have a cute way to display your time together, but they will be a great way to start people mingling - by going from table to table looking at the different pictures. (This can also be achieved with silk flowers, foam and moss.)

You can use the digital photo frames/albums at the tables. Therefore, every table will have different pictures of you two and encourage mingling. Everyone will want to "table-hop" to be able to see all of the pictures. I am not sure how much they cost but I saw some at CVS (the drugstore) so I am sure they are not terribly expensive.
You can either use them as gifts for your bridal party or you can take them all... since you two will have plenty of future memories to fill them.
Best wishes.

My husband and I displayed pictures at our wedding. We bought some inexpensive silver frames and displayed them on tables and mantles around the reception hall. Afterwords we replaced the pictures with pictures of the wedding and honeymoon and displayed them in our home.

There are many things you can do.. You can make table number cards from old pictures.. Or make a photo guest book.. Get a black book with black pages from a craft store.. Glue old pictures into it -one or two per page- then get those metallic silver or gold pens for people to write their good wishes..

Perhaps somebody in the family, or a friend, has the equipment.
Maybe they would consider doing this as their gift to you both.
People who have them, could bring notebooks to set up.
You'd need to watch out for their security though.

You could download pictures to USB drives for them.
Or someone could give you one of those picture viewers.
You/they just insert camera chips into the back, & it plays.

Wrap them around tall cylindar candle holders

use tree frames as center peices

laminate them & use them as place mats

hang them in mobiles from the ceiling

blow them up to poster size and have them around the venue

the possibilities are endless

make a montage and make a large blank border so people can sign special wishes to you. have it at the entrance to the reception. so they can sign it then. I did it at my wedding and framed it and put it on the wall of our apartment.
