To be completely honest, God does not want you to blindly follow him he wants to develop a relationship with every one of his children. If you don't question things, how will you know what it is that you stand for? It just sounds to me that the people that you grew up with, that told you to "just pray" didn't really have many answers themselves. Yes, the Bible was written long ago but it still has relevance in today's world. It sounds like not only do you want to understand the Bible but you want a closer relationship with God. Being able to quote the Bible word for word does not mean that you have a relationship with God...that is all up to you and God. God wants to be a part of your life everyday...not just when you need something from him. The more conversations (prayers)you have with him, the easier it will be to hear his response to you. God is working in your life, you may just be unaware of it right now. I hope that you don't lose faith just because you may still have unanswered questions..go to church and ask your clergy for some answers...or attend a Bible study class, just seek out those answers. I don't feel like you want to just give up, you just sound a little frustrated.

What you are missing is the personal relationship you must have with God. The Bible is indeed a book written by MEN many years ago...and even if it was inspired by God (and I believe the concepts are His), it has still been interpreted by man...both in the writting and in the teaching thereafter.
Religions per se are also formed by men who have taken the scriptures, put their own spin on them and developed a group of people who agree with that interpretation.
God is central to all belief and all religions...even though man has had the tendency to put God out of the picture in favor of religious practices.
If you once believed, allow yourself to have hope that God is there.....and talk to him. I am not talking about saying some fancy prayer using big words or repetitions but simply talk to Him. Tell him what you are feeling and thinking. Believe me, you are not the first nor will you be the last to question Him or his existance. Just ask him to show you who and what he is....then listen. I can assure you if it comes from your heart, He will hear you and answer you.
I wish there was a way for me to give you a glimpse of what it is like to be in constant contact with God...to know that in every step you take each day he takes a step with you...to know that when life brings challenges he will be with you and help you to figure things out....to know that you will be more powerful and more blessed than you could have possibly imagined. But, you have to take the first step. The simple fact that you are asking this question shows me that God is placing a call on your heart. Now all you have to do is answer Him. He will lead you to the next step...and the next..and the next. Believe me, he is truly awesome.

Yes, you have missed God. Jesus is God in the flesh. Alot of people want Jesus to be their Savior. Not alot of people want Him as Lord. God comes to us, we do not go to Him. So if you are seeking , that is God calling you. You have to invite Jesus to be Lord and Savior of your life. Lord means to tell him that you can do nothing without Him and to lead every part of your life. Jesus gives use the Holy Spirit to help us do this when we are born again. If you are asking what can I not do without Him, here are some simply things you might have over looked: Take a breath, every beat of your heart, and guide your life to follow Him. You can find God today if you will just listen to Him calling you. If you think I am wrong or have a question email me. I will pray for you to find the truth. May God Bless You!

You have missed the whole point. It's belief, not knowledge. I believe in the Trinity and the bible. I don't know if God the father , son or holy spirit exist. But i live my life like they do and try to follow the teachings of Jesus

The more you know the more you know you don't know. One thing I think your missing is that living by the bible is a way of life. To many people want proof that Jesus exists or didn't exist. So ask yourself do you think evil exists? My reasoning is that Satan (an invisible entity) is ruler of the world at this time. When Jesus died on the cross GOD gave free reign to Satan. Many people lose their faith because life is to hard on them. My point is that if Satan exists GOD must exist. It is a battle between good and evil. Whether GOD exists or not.

You need to remember that Jesus was a real person, walking and talking here on earth. He is very recorded person even outside of the Bible. He did not change the Bible. His followers wrote the NT with the help of Holy Spirit. The Bible is very reliable.
He exists. He is alive. Talk to Him.

2 motives: a million--He develop into an spectacular instructor. human beings learn extra advantageous using illustrations and save the thought longer with the help of using user-friendly illustrations of issues they're acquainted with. 2--Jesus used illustrations to seperate people who basically hung around for a loose meal from people who extremely wanted to appreciate. they might come to him after and ask what he meant. in this way we are able to work out that are literal and not literal. If he develop into talking to basically his disciples, it develop into literal. If it develop into to a crowd, it develop into an illustration. (See Matt. 13:10-11; Mark 4:10-11, 34; Luke 8:9) with the help of ways, Matt. 18:7-9 is displaying how we ought to constantly no longer permit something carry us returned from doing what we ought to to get to stay decrease than God's Kingdom rule. many times it would be kinfolk interfering. it must be materialism or delight. None of those are properly worth dropping your life over.

the filling of the Holy Spirit can change that. We have to remember that God is a gentleman--He doesn't come where we don't want Him to--so if we are studying, praying, and playing church then He knows our hearts and our motives in which we do things--we have to come to Him like little children with open hearts and minds---telling Him that we allow Him to come and reveal Himself to us--He will run to us as far as we run to Him---some days I feel so far away from Him--and I just have to fall on my face and cry out to Him--in worship. He is certainly there for all of us if we truly seek Him with all our hearts.

You missed the part about how people WANT the universe to be small and easy to grasp. It's less frightening if you have a bearded father who speaks in trite parables and punishes the people who harm you and rewards you for being you.

You haven't missed anything... I went through the same thing... Its just some people need religion while others live a happier life without it... don't sweat losing faith... as long as you have faith in yourself life won't be any different than if you had faith in a God...
