hard and economically feasible are not the same thing. Are you talking about gasoline and diesel fuel? We can already produce biodiesel relatively cheap. We COULD make gasoline, but actually, ethanol has a greater performance potential (Saab makes a duel-fuel car that is able to run at higher compressions when it senses ethanol, significantly increasing horsepower.) Plus, it would not require much re-engineering within the auto industry to convert to ethanol.

Ethanol is expensive now, but how much cheaper would it be to produce if we had more NUCLEAR power?

Crude oil is already made, long ago too. It's just getting to it that takes a bit of effort. But why does a gallon of gas cost only a little more than a gallon of Coke or Pepsi? To get crude petroleum, process it into gasoline, deliver, etc.all that goes into it is more difficult than mixing triple filtered water with a little gas, and sugar a few magic flavorings and that's it. I hope we don't run out of soda, then Al Gore will be asking us to limit out use of it so that only wealthy and important people can use it much like the screams about us poor folk using up all the Hollywood pig's gasoline!!! Please send me your prays and maybe we can hold a Rock Concert to save soda pop!!! Count me in.

Small amounts can be made, and are being made, but making the billions of gallons that the whole world uses would be really hard. So it isn't hard to make some, it is just hard to make enough. It is kind of like money that way. Anybody can earn a few dollars, but it is really hard to earn millions of dollars.
