I enjoyed learning about the Mayans. There are a lot of similarities between their ideas and the ones of other religions and it makes me wonder why and how.

I've been interested in quite a few--I really loved studying the Aztecs. I wrote a paper on Aztec mythology once that my teacher claimed it was the best paper she'd ever read. Mainly because she liked how I didn't judge the Aztecs as disgusting or w/e for offering the hearts of warriors to their gods. I just said that in today's society, it [heart offerings] may be considered grotesque, but the Aztecs believed they were doing them a favour; they thought they were giving them an honourable death and a better afterlife.

I also liked learning about Greek mythology, Wicca, Paganism and Buddhism.

We have talks at work about the history of ancestors (Chinese (Taiwanese), Mexican, Philipa, mine - I'm 4th generation American, the others are 1st.) and faith is part of these talks. Then I have always enjoyed fairy tales and lore, from all countries. Myths also interest me.
I finally stopped buying books when I remembered most everything is here in the computer, (and the pile reached 4 feet) which led me here to R&S section (and the myth section).

Yes, I study many religions and beliefs.....some turn me off and others cause me to ponder and see from another prespective. But I have always remained a Christian.

I encouraged my own children to learn of other faiths so that they could make their own choices. My theory is that you must know what the choices are before you can choose.

I like have read about Budhism and Taoism but no other religion can offer what Christianity offers. Christianity offers salvation and eternal life to all who believe. Buddhism is more a philosophy than a religon, it simply talk about things for this world, but not eternal life, because only Jesus gives eternal life.

Buhhhism is interesting... Celtic Paganism can be a very positive belief system for women... it always bugs me how many religions vilify women. I'd not be thrilled if either of my daughters got caught up in christianity or islam.

As a Buddhist, I enjoy learning about other religions and systems of belief. It is clear to me that all the major religions share the common goals of compassion, tolerance, justice, etc. and each of them have been of tremendous spiritual (and temporal) benefit to millions of their practitioners.

Peace and blessings to all!

They all interest me. I am also interested in the Mayan Civilization. The name has its origins in the Sanskrit language. Maya means "illusion" in Sanskrit. The civilization is vedic in origin, which is interesting, because the vedic culture was centered in India and Mesapotamia.
