I mean, what a stupid religion you guys have!

You don't even believe in God, or an afterlife, or anything supernatural like that! It's silly! How can it be a proper religion if you don't have any of that?!

You athiests might as well NOT HAVE any religion.

The only book you have is The God Delusion, and that isn't a proper religious book, because the bible is thousands of years old, and that makes it a proper religious book. Richard Dawkins wasn't inspired by God to write it, heck, he doesn't even believe in God, so how could it be religious ???

Why don't you guys get a real religion?

Atheism (NOT Athiesm) is not a Religion. Secondly, just because your books are old doesn't mean they're true. I hate to say it, but they're also badly scripted. It's like, "Just use a Pronoun!" Also, isn't this a little inflammatory? It doesn't do credit to your beliefs, you know, to ask narrow-minded and rather nasty questions like this. It only makes you look childish.

I realize that this question may have been posted in jest and, as an agnostic, I probably have no business responding to it.

However, given the content of some of the answers already posted here, I think there is something that atheists should be aware of, and that is, by definition:

---Atheism can be defined as a religion---

This is a link to the definitions of "religion" as maintained by the American Heritage Dictionary.
[Of particular note for atheists is definition #4]:

http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/religion

For those of you who wish to remain "linkless", I've C/Ped definition #4:

[[[4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.]]]

Given that atheism:
1 - is a cause,
2 - is founded on a principle,
...and...
3 - is pursued with zeal by almost every atheist who posts on here, and is most certainly pursued with utmost vigor by the well-renowned atheist standard-bearer Richard Dawkins...

--then, at least by this definition:
-----ATHEISM IS A RELIGION-----
(...it's just not one that is founded in the devotion to a God or Gods).

If you consider yourself to be Christian...better start reading your bible more...what does it say about being loving and tolerant of others? And no, atheism is not a religion!

I consider myself a Christian. However, if someone chooses not to believe in God, Jehovah, Muhammed, the Great Spirit, etc. that doesn't bother me, nor do I try to convert them. I know that there are people out there who choose not to believe in a "Father", whether that was the way they were raised, or is the due to what has happened in their life.
Personally, I choose not to go to church, having seen to many hypochrites (spelling?) there. But that doesn't mean I don't believe and worship God.

If you believe in something greater than yourselves than you have a religion. If you believe in science than that is your religion. There is so much religion out in the world now, you can actually go shopping for religion. But myself I believe in the Lord JESUS CHRIST, it is sad that so many Christians used the word of God for there own gain. But what ever your beliefs are, the Lord God says " every knee shall bow" You can succeed in life, have great intelligence, and have great morals, your life is dead without Christ, even after you die. But it is arrogant to go against other peoples religion, have respect for other people believes. As Christians dust yourself off and move on.

First, atheism isn't a religion. It's just a term to describe people who don't believe in god.
Second, atheist can and do believe in an afterlife and supernatural things. They just don't believe in a god that controls things. I should know, I am an atheist, I do believe in an afterlife and I do believe in supernatural things like magic and psychics. And f**k you for being so narrow minded. Why don't you get your facts straight before bashing us?

If it's not a religion then why are there so many atheists in the "Religion and Spirituality" section?

Why do they try to convert people here?

Why are they so fervent about their BELIEFS?
