Yesterday I asked if anyone else ever had a panic attack while watching Karoke. The more I think about it I have similar reactions when watching people perform or act poorly on TV. I love the Larry David Show but half the time I Im pacing in and out of the room.I The first time I had a panic attack it was watching my girlfriend at the time in a play. (She did great!) Needless to say I have anxiety and some other issues. I was just curious if anyone else get a ton of anxiety when others might embarrass themselves. Its strange because I have no problem speaking in front of others and played individual sports for years with no problems.
Its not affecting my life in a negative way.I think its a funny quirk and wonder if other people have it. Feel free to have a laugh at my expense if you'd like.

Sorry I made it sound that way. I don't think panic attacks are funny at all. I don't want to make light of them because they really are awful. I just think its really silly that I could be so afraid of Karoke and American Idol.

I don't necessarily have panic attacks because of other people's embarrassment but I know exactly what you mean.

I get really embarrassed for other people. I think it has to do with being very empathetic towards other people.

I have had to change the channel on the TV at times when I see someone doing something embarrassing. My husband has noticed my reaction and thinks it's pretty funny. I honestly get red in the face and have all the same feelings I would if it was me doing the embarrassing thing.

Panic attacks are treatable, and it sounds to me like you have had some true panic attacks. I recommend mentioning it to a doctor, and seeing what kind of treatment options are available for you. By the way, please don't think that I am saying you are crazy or anything. Panic attacks happen to many people, and most of them are quite sane. One of my friends has them. She is now on some kind of herb for them, but I can't remember the name of it. If you are embarrassed to tell your doctor about the religious fears, at least tell him about the fears of dying and not being able to breathe. That is enough to tell him that you are having panic attacks, and then he can give you a treatment for it, and it should help all the symptoms. You have accepted Jesus and he accepts you. You have nothing to fear. You probably know that when you think logically about it. But panic attacks are not based on logic. I don't think that just because you are having these attacks that it means you don't trust God enough. I really think there is a clinical cause of the attacks. They are not a sign of weakness or lack of faith. I think that reading the Bible will help you. I say this because I think that the horror stories you have been told are way off the mark. I think that reading the Bible will give you the true story, and you won't have to go around fearing what people have told you. I would guess that a lot of what they have told you is not even biblical. If you are going to read something like Revelation, which is very difficult to understand, due to all the symbolism, then you need to get very good commentary to help you understand. It was written during a time when the Christian Church was being persecuted and could not speak openly against the Empire. So they used symbolic language. When you understand what they are really saying, it's not so scary. But really, I would not try to delve into Revelation right now. Read the Sermon on the Mount. Read the Gospels. Read Psalms. And furthermore, understand that for those who are good, moral people, the end will not be a horrific thing. No matter what happens, God is with you, and God will make everything good.

Lol. You would have been a sight to behold, pacing and chewing on your knuckles, etc. Someone should have taped your antics and do a segment of similar behaviors from others for funny videos !

Anyway, I have to say no, Fortunately for me. I used to think I would die of embarrassment when I was in the elementary grades uo to high school.

In my case, I stopped all that in university where you get subjected to every possible (at least in my mind) embarassing situation ever. If school ever teaches you anything, it is that- do not take yourself too seriously.

Embarrassment is like an allergy. You get desensitized after numerous exposures. So you will grow into a role similar to face thickening and one day everything becomes ordinary and you will only pay attention to what is supposed to be imparted to the audience. Is the act good? So so? Ho hum?

So, how can you improve it?

That is pretty silly. I don't think they could be classified as panic attacks but when people embarrass themselves my heart does start beating faster and I blush for them. It's not like you describe but I think it's just relating to other people and feeling empathetic towards them, you are just VERY empathetic lol. Hope you're okay though.

I get horrible panic and anxiety, and sometimes over the strangest things.. but unlike you I don't find it funny!
I think it's kinda sweet that you are having them when other people are in situations that bring on anxiety, kind of means you feel for people that you dont' even know
