I'm not Canadian, nor am I a non-citizen immigrant working IN Canada...but if I WERE a non-citizen immigrant, I would expect that Canadian citizens working in Canada would have the right to keep their jobs before a non-citizen worker.

He/she with the least seniority usually. Bring colour into it and you're dead meat with your a s s next to Paris.

And yes BK, that's pretty well what it comes down too...doesn't matter how good you are either...if they can pay someone half your salary they don't even care that they do a sh*tty job most times...(and I'm talking about government because that is where I worked for 20 years before getting axed...even though I did the job of 4 people....not kidding you.... but in the end they privatized and the person who got to stay was the lousiest and least paid...of course management retained thier status and pay)

Typically the least efficient workers - in terms of productivity vs cost - tend to get laid off first. Often, troublemakers or unpopular folks will get the ax first, as well.

I'm not sure about Canada, but here in the US, immigrants often work a bit cheaper than natives, so guess who goes first...
