The Pope (the Bishop of Rome) is the head of the Roman Catholic Church an is a Roman Catholic.
By nationality the current pope was born a German (whihc is irrelevant since being german is a nationality and you have Germans from all different religions, including Judaism). lived through Nazi era germany and was a member of the Hitler Youth (as was every other youth in germany at the time).
Some conspiracy theorists like to claim that Christianity is merely a tool for the Jews to create the world (yep- these loonies exist- a prominent one in that one of its members went on a shooting spree is the World Church of the Creator).

If Pope Benedict XVI and his family were Jewish then the Nazis would have sent them to a concentration camp to be killed.
As a teenager and young man, Pope Benedict XVI was drafted into the Hitler Youth and the Nazi German Army just like every other non-Jewish German male. He was not given a choice.
The Pope is not and never has been a Nazi. He unfortunately was born and grew up in a country ruled by the Nazi party.
Thank God that you and I live in a very different world that the Pope did in 1930s and 1940s Germany. Or do we?

No, he is a German. But the original first Pope and several there after for 100 yrs. or so were Jewish. The first Pope was St. Peter.
