Of course not. The Army doesn't want you to be able to do your job or anything... Why would they want you to do that?

Of course you go through your MOS school first. Also, a common mistake for everyone is to assume that the only place our soldiers go is Iraq; there are several other places you could go, Iraq is just the biggest conflict zone.

I used to be in the Marines, but I think the answer would be the same either way. As far as I know, you would need to finish your MOS school before being attached to a unit and sent to Iraq. As the ex-Lt. said, you wouldn't be much help without the training. The army has a certain number of soldiers they must maintain in Iraq, but they don't want to send just anybody over there. You would be endangering the lives of the other soldiers if you did not know how to act. Just a warning ,though...don't think that they won't send you if you are not in the infantry. I was in Iraq twice and my MOS was as a Russian linguist (I think the equivalent in the army is 98G). As part of my training, I also learned how to set up and use a lot of the communications equipment used in Iraq. You may not use your primary MOS, but they will find a use for you in some capacity. That being said, I am almost certain that you must finish training first. Best bet-----ask a recruitor. Most will be honest and let you know the real deal, but I would ask a couple of different recruitors to see if you get a consistent story. Good luck! I admire your choice to enter the military when so many others are unwilling to do so.

I accept as true with quite a few the different responders. As a truck motive force, he has a intense risk as a transporter for materials in Iraq or Afghanistan for that count. Going to feet Hood nevertheless his bigger probablility is Iraq. HRC will regularly assign human beings commencement AIT to the instruments which could purple meat up beforehand deployment. good luck to you and your husband.

This is how it goes. First you go to Basic training, after that you go to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) wich is where you get trained for your selected MOS. then you get a attached to a unit. If your unit is selected then you get shipped out to your unit's selected destiniation, dosent nessessarily mean iraq. Could be japan, alaska, germany, afghanistan, guam, etc...

Unless your mos is Infantry related, you would be no good in a combat zone. You will go to your AIT, complete it, get assigned to a permenant party, and then be eligible for deployment 90 days later. You have some time.

Yes, you will go to AIT after basic training to get to know your job and what exactly you need to do....the Army will not send you off to war without your knowledge of what you gotta do.

Why would you go in the Army? Did you get fired from WalMart?
No, chances are they will send you directly to Tikrit or Fallujah, why bother training moving targets?
