Depends on what type of salad. You could have a salad with meat, cheese, fatty dressing, etc.

When trying to lose weight, you should drink a lot of water (at least 8 glasses per day). This alone will help. As far as eating salads for each meal, it depends on what is in the salad. You need to have a healthy balance of lean protein, carbs, and good fats. Salads with proteing and a light dressing on the side would be good to eat and will ultimately help you lose weight. That could become really boring though. You should focus more on the right combinations of foods. You might be surprised at how many choices you really do have while still trying to lose weight.

Exercise is also a must. Eating right and exercise go hand in hand. As difficult as it may be for some (including me), if you want to lose weight, you have to do both.

no - that way your body would lose water weight and muscle not fat and slow down metabolism. you would end up having higher body fat percentage.
to lose weight you have to makes some permanent changes in your diet and exercise habits.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
