Wow, the bad information on this site amazes me.
If you choose to go back in, you go throgh a process like this.
1) Go to a recuiter and fill out all the paperwork you did the first time, but add to it, a statement on why you got out, why you want back, and what you have done since you got out.

2) go to meps and take the asvab and physical again. At this point, you will fill out another statement on what rates you want. Then your package will be submitted for approval.

3) your recruiter will recieve a letter stating what rate you were accepted to, and what rank. Typically, for someone out as long as you, its coming back in as an E3, with E4 after a school. What rank did you get out as?

4) if you choose this rank and rate, you go back to great lakes and go through indoc, damage control and uniform issue. Then you attend A school for your new rate. After that you work with a detailer for orders.

I have put four navets back in the navy in the last 2 years, and am currently an active duty recruiter.

First of all, lets take a step back and think about your question. I'm sure your life is going pretty smoothly since you got out of the Navy. I'm sure there is no reason for you to need to thrive in the womb of the Navy. Whether or not you go back in as a seamen or an brainwashed admiral, life will bottom out right in front of you. At least that is what I hypothesize might happen. But I think you will agree. FTN.

the best answer is..maybe. you might lose a paygrade since you have been out for 2 years. if your old rating is CREO1, you probably won't be allowed to Crossrate.
