Speaking to a co-worker the other day, the subject of music came up, and we discussed what bands we listen to, to see if we have any in common. I then showed this person my artist list in my MP3 player - to which they proceeded to say that "I don't judge people by the music they listen to".....

They then find out that Fall Out Boy is my favorite band, and makes a statement of "People who listen to music like Fall Out Boy are losers"....

Would they be deemed to be hypocritical, due to the fact that they first state "They don't judge people by what music they listen to" - then afterwards, make a statement how if people listen to a certain genre of music, then they are "losers/posers"?

That is the very definition of a hypocrite - someone who says one thing, while actually doing the exact opposite...

Maybe he was just trying to get a rise out of you - or (more likely) his true two-faced nature came out of hiding. Now that you know that he is this way - don't let him know you deep dark secrets...

They sound tactless. I'd remind them that they formerly said you wouldn't be judged by the music you listen to...and now they're judging you because they don't like the music you listen to. Confusing.

Try to find something else in common with them; don't just cut them off. Work life is difficult enough without the petty indifferences, so try to make the best of it.

specific its hypocritical. yet you know what? i've got finished some tremendously undesirable stuff as a teenager that i does not want my babies doing. in the event that they are sneaky sufficient, they could destroy out with it. in simple terms because of the fact we tell our childrens to no longer do something, it does not advise they wont do it. My mothers and dads are extremely strict yet i've got broken ever unmarried rule that they had. i found strategies around those regulations and my mothers and dads have been taken aback at how ruthless i grew to become into for a youthful teenager. i assume this confirmed how i'm as a grown up, i decide for what i want no count the outcomes. As mothers and dads we mean nicely. yet, without studies, we does not learn. i've got found out lots from my errors, i assume this is the only stable section approximately breaking the regulations. So specific, my mothers and dads have been undesirable as young people and youthful adults of their own way. They used to drink and smoke very early directly to their adulthood. i grew to become into undesirable in my own way and that they never observed me coming because of the fact their regulations have been "do as I say, no longer as I did". I did precisely that different than, I did issues they never suspected i might get into. So, whilst it is composed of parenting, we tremendously lots set the regulations without thinking each man or woman baby's character, because of the fact the regulations we set are the regulations we broke whilst we've been youthful.

They are hypocritical.

And, enjoy your music. It's for you - not this co-worker.

I think that is hypocritical, and possibly two-faced.
