If you have a female in a cage with an unneutered male, pregnancy is inevitable. Eight hours, eight days...doesn't matter. It only takes seconds for intercourse.

If you want to be able to keep a male and female guinea pig in the same cage, you must neuter the male. Otherwise, you will very quickly be overwhelmed with back-to-back litters of babies.

Female guinea pigs have a very small window of time in which they can safely become pregnant and deliver babies. That window is between 4 and 8 months old. Any older or any younger and it becomes very dangerous to their physical well-being.

Do not put her in with any unneutered males again. You'd only be taking an unnecessary gamble with her life, with the lives of her babies. If you and your friend want your pigs to be able to socialize on occasion, you MUST keep them separate -- separate cages, separate play areas.

You'll have to consider yourself on pregnancy watch until you can determine definitively if she's pregnant. I've included some links below to help you.

i've got faith the two one may well be super. I certainly have had the two a guinea pig and a hamster. My cousin who's 9 has 5 hamsters and he or she likes to play with them and because they're so tiny she enjoys being with them. they're additionally extra straightforward to scrub and preserve then a guinea pig. As for the gender a woman may well be extra advantageous. Now a guinea pig is likewise exciting to have because of the fact they're larger yet they're harder to have a tendency to. They do have a stronger scent then hamsters besides. yet they're extra playful and have much less of a time time table then hamsters who've a tendency to sleep interior the day. yet they're extremely extremely annoying to preserve alongside with their foodstuff plan and because guinea pigs ought to get their nails decrease and their hair brushed and that they are able to't devour around lettuce. even nevertheless they're the two super pets for an 8 year previous i might recommend a hamster

Sure, if she's been with him for 5 minutes. It only takes seconds for them to breed.

However, baby guinea pigs are adorable, are born with fur and are running, squealing and purring in hours.

Yes, there is a high chance they could mate. If you don't want her to get pregnant, you should keep them a part.
