Acts 1:9-12 Says it took place at Mount Olivet, FORTY days after his resurrection. Now really, how could such an error be written into the Bible if, as you Christians say, it is Inspired. Wouldn't Jesus or God have transmitted them the TRUTH?

It isn't inspired, and God did not transmit it.
But why would Luke give two different accounts? And why didn't the early Christian scribes correct such a glaring error?

This is definately one of the biggest contradictions in the Bible. Luke 24:50-51 says Bethany, Acts 1:1-12 says Mount Olivet, which is at the edge of Jerusalem, and Matthew 28:7-20 says a mountain in Galilee. You would think that three seperate eyewitness accounts would not contradict eachother so completely on such a critical detail.

Bethany is a small village on the east slope of the Mount of Olives and Jesus's ascension to heaven took place 40 days after the resurrection. If you go back to verses 31-43, Jesus appeared to them more then once

Forty days after Jesus’ resurrection, when the time came for him to part from his disciples, he led them, not to the temple that was now abandoned by God but, rather, “out as far as Bethany” on the Mount of Olives (Olivet), where his ascension began.—Lu 24:50-53; Ac 1:9-12.

Luke adds details to the ascension in Acts 1 that he left out in Luke 24.

Something similar was done with the Genesis account. Chapter one gives the general account of creation. Chapter two provides details that chapter one left out. They do not contradict.

Attention Checkmate and utuk: .Bethany is village “about two miles” away from Jerusalem, the measurement used by the Gospel writer at that time being the Roman stadium, with the “fifteen stadia” mentioned by him equaling about 2.8 km (1.7 mi). (Joh 11:18) It lay on the east slope of the Mount of Olives on an ancient approach to Jerusalem from Jericho and the Jordan. The Mount of Olives IS a mountain in Galilee. There is NO Bible contradiction.
