block you because you call them on their lies and refuse to agree with them? I think it's funny, and pathetic that they are too insecure to debate.
What do you think?

I think when they run across someone who can rebut their arguments and make sense they do not like having to give up the ruling of the roost. They like being the end all of everything like God lights candles in front of their picture and when they can't control the conversation totally they block you now, I am not saying there are not legitimate times to block an overbearing rude person but for the most part this is what I have experienced

The R&S forum is an open format for R&S inquiries & opinions, & for life and religious study help at best. The question creator should realize that in an open R&S forum you will have those who answer openly and honestly and those who are here for shock, dissention, and entertainment value. The cruder, the ruder, the more disrespectful the better.
I have learned to answer the first and ignore the last. It serves NO positive purpose to respond and/or acknowledge crudeness/rudeness.
Responders to questions are offering their opinion. Whether I privately agree, disagree, or think they are rude, crude, & lacking in any of the basic home training and manners I do not feel it is my duty or right nor my responsibility to privately email nor publicly castigate nor air my opinions of that person's perceptions, beliefs, or lack there of.
At times, I will go back and read responses and vote on their response to a given question. If the question or comment is plainly obscene and irrelevant to the query I might report it. And allow Yahoo forum managers to judge/resolve it.
I do not privately/publicly email anyone nor do I begin slamming, lecturing, or sermonizing anyone. I know that that person has a right to their opinions, whether I do agree with them or not.
But I think anyone is wrong to send unsolicited emails slamming or judging others for their opinions. And I feel that the most mature, sensible, and polite thing to do is to block someone who does violate basic rules of polite conversational debate.
Debate is ONLY a debate if BOTH parties are willing participants. Anything less is rudeness at best, harassment at worst.

Many of them do not expect someone knowledgeable to come along and expose their lies as nothing more than preposterous propaganda. They become like a deer caught in headlights and then block you upon realizing that they have no defense against the truth. I think it's funny too. I can just imagine the shaky nervousness, and having to trade in their smug, sheepish grin for a look of defeat. :)

If you are referring to other Yahoo Answers patrons, I know what you mean.
I think many are not really searching for an honest answer. They have what they (want to) believe is the answer and they post questions in search of affirmation.
So long as we are honest with our answers, not afraid to say what we think or believe - especially when we suspect such answers aren't going to be the popular ones - we've done our job.
We can help spread Truth, but we cannot force people to accept it.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.

yeah some people just dont care so they block you. But its most likely because they are intimidated by you and dont want to seem stupid because they know they will loose the argument.

This forum is FULL of people who get all huffed up when someone points out the flaws in their arguments--or even when they don't believe as they do. People always love to think they're always right, and always hate to be told they're wrong.

Do not talk about knowledge with the foolish so that they deny you, nor with the ignorant so that they find you oppressive, but talk about it with those of its people whom you meet who will accept it and understand it.

one person's 'debater' is another person's 'troll', i guess...maybe they prefer to just share their viewpoint and leave it at that...who knows? it's not like there's a lack of people to engage in debate around here...
