Yes, however that is what God offers. Our only responsibility is to believe. No, I wouldn't call that be selfish. Selfish people don't have a heart enough to care about praying.

Don't you still talk to your own parents, even when you're grown-up? Don't you ask their advice when you are struggling, and draw on their wisdom and experience? Don't you tell them how much you love them, and thank them for their love and care towards you? Don't you tell them your troubles, and cry on their comforting shoulders? Don't you delight in simply spending silent time in their company, feeling their closeness?
Isn't all of this what you are doing when you pray to God?
Is it selfish to be with your parents in these ways? Then why is it selfish when you are being with God?

I used to pray a lot when I was younger and went to bed. I used to think about other people and what was bothering them. Then I stopped thinking about others and stopped praying. So, I only prayed way back when about others.

I think a lot of prayer comes down to that. I do it too, and I hate it. I feel like I only bother to talk to God when I need something. a 911 God, a genie. In truth, prayer should be a time to simply spend time with God. He is our best friend, our Father, our Lord, and we are supposed to love Him and spend time just chatting, sharing our heart, seeking His heart, and His direction for our lives. I desire to do that more, but I'm just not there yet, I still am at that immature place of having a 911 God.

The devil kills, steals and destroys.
Human Beings are not the PRIMARY ENEMY, although the Primary Enemy can use Human Beings to come against you.
Example: in World War 2, IF all of the Germans who were Fighting under Hitler wouda' Instantly "got Saved", the Fighting would of Instantly Stopped.
too bad everybody on the Earth won't Accept Jesus as their Saviour---TOMARROW!
Huh?
Ditto.........Pray ALOT..

Sadly yes. But prayer shouldn't be a little list of requests. It goes far beyond that. It's drawing close to God and communicating with him. It's growing and developing into the human being you are called to be.

Yes I pray for myself, I also pray for my friends, my enemies and those that are somewhere in between.
Does that pass your test?
As much as atheists enjoy calling us judgmental they sure are great at pointing the finger.

it would only be selfish if you took away from someone else. all you're doing is asking for help! theres nothing wrong with that. you're being honest that you need help and you're admitting it. Asking God or whoever for help is a sign that you wanna go on and fight for a good life, not being selfish.
