at first i thought that everyone had it. the i asked around to a few friends and they thought i was crazy. now i know that its not that popular. i have it to where i see written music in color as well as black and white pictures and text. lets just say it makes my life a little more colorful than most peoples. oh by the way if you have it do you tell people because i stopped. everyone thought i was nuts.

My best friend's fiancee has synesthesia. Different synesthetes have different experiences, based on exactly where in the brain the "unusual" neural activity originates. In her case, each letter of the alphabet and each numeral (0-9) has its own color. She can recognize words based on the order of the colors, even if the actual letters aren't there. When she tells someone they have a pretty name, it doesn't mean the name sounds nice, it means the colors match nicely!

There is a similar capacity that everybody has: to associate input from one sense with input from another sense based on experience. The difference is that true synesthesia is not built up from experience, and it's generally more vivid.

I have the 'mirror' version where if I see someone being touched I can actually feel the touch.....I'm also super-empathic. I don't bother to tell anyone since it's not a common topic.

I do. I see days of the week in color. ie. Monday is black, Tuesday is tan Saturday is red..... Very odd

*Some* people have it (you got the word somewhere).

I think is sometimes a side-effect of migraine headaches.
