6.something so I don't have to hold the button long so I don't miss a picture--I think it is called shutter display?

The Casio is the better camera. The Kodak Easyshare really eats up batteries and has a long turn on time.

1. Almost all digital cameras manufactured within the last 5 years (at least) have a self-timer, so the 2 cameras you are looking at should both have one.

2-3. 10-15 pictures is not very many. Even the worst camera batteries will handle about 150-200 shots per charge (at least).

4. Unless your photographing for the next issue of Sports Illustrated or National Geographic, most digital cameras provide more than sufficient photo quality for general viewing and printing. The two cameras you are looking at both have high resolutions and should take pretty good pictures.

5. Almost all digital cameras will have an 'Automatic' mode, in which the camera will select all of the correct settings for the photo you want to take, avoiding washed-out/dark or blurry pictures.

6. Many people feel that only certain digital cameras are able to take pictures instantly (as soon as you press the shutter button), or with very little delay (this is known as shutter delay). However, the delay is actually caused by the camera's auto-focusing system. When you press the shutter button, the camera fist takes a second to focus the image, and then takes the picture. This creates the delay.
However, there is a simple way to eliminate this delay. Once you have your picture framed, you can press and hold the shutter button down half-way, allowing the camera to focus. Then, as long as you hold the button half-way down, the camera will remained focused. When you're ready to take the picture, press the shutter button down all the way and the camera will take the picture with almost no delay.

So, to help you decide, both Casio and Kodak are good manufacturers, and both of these cameras are of good quality. If they cost the same, I'd buy the Kodak, as it has 2 more megapixels. This increased resolution is not always necessary when viewing the photos on a computer or printing them small, say 4 x 6, but if you want to print large photos (such as 20 x 30 in.), the 7 megapixels will definitely increase the quality at those sizes.

Good luck with you decision.

Either one would be a good beginner camera and would definitely serve it's purpose, you might want to go with the Kodak though. I'd beware of buying from a pawn shop though, you really don't know you're getting a reliable camera, as mentioned earlier, eBay's a great place to find cameras at cheaper prices and with a warranty. As for batteries, you can get some good long-lasting batteries like Enaloops and such, I get mine off eBay. You'll need to get an extra SD card as well and a protective case (this is an investment). Also, on eBay, you can find some cheat-sheets for getting better quality pics for the camera you choose. Have fun!

I dont know about the second camera but dont get the kodak camera! I used to have a kodak easy share camera and it sucked so bad! only 3 second timer, you had to hold down the button for a long time, no clear pictures, nothing good.
