One way is to start the engine with the hood open, put the car in drive. Hold the brake pedal down hard and hit the gas some what. Look at the engine, is it raising up? A lot of the times the fan blades will hit the shroud and make a squealing noise. That is an easy way to tell.

the first answer is good and another way is to visually inspect the rubber. It is down there next to hot headers and teh rubber starts to get old and the heat starts to get to it and it starts cracking, if it is all cracked up go ahead and get new mounts before you ruin your fan blades and shroud.
