Look at the globe and you'll see that China manages to share some of their pollution with the west coast of the U.S.
How do I feel? I at least can have a say in environmental concerns here. I have no direct say in what the Chinese do, but I am making a concerted effort since Christmas not to by products made in China if an alternative is available. So I am voicing my objections to several issues by boycotting Chinese products. THAT'S how I feel about China nowadays.

I feel that it won't matter because people will continue the "US must lead and China will follow" mantra. Like they are following us to democracy, or basic human rights, or any rights for that matter.
But if you consider real pollution--toxic chemicals--China was already by far the worst.
Maybe if they build enough coal plants they will put enough dust and soot in the air that we will have a shading effect and get global cooling. You see it is the Clean Air act that outlawed aerosols and other pollutants that are global coolers that has also caused this warming.
I come to the above conclusion from the explainations of AGW believers that explain the global cooling from 1940 to 1975.

"BEIJING - China has overtaken the United States as the world's top producer of carbon dioxide emissions — the biggest man-made contributor to global warming — based on the latest widely accepted energy consumption data, a Dutch research group says. "

China is an emerging super power, pollution is an inescapable price that the Earth will suffer in order for this vast country to emerge from the pit of poverty, we will survive the pollution, I hope that nothing more serious comes of it.

Even though China now emits more total CO2 than the U.S., the U.S. still emits more CO2 per person. China only has larger total emissions because of its larger population. So we can't be so smug yet. But it is a REALLY good reason to not ratify the Kyoto Protocol, because under that agreement the U.S. would be penalized for its emissions and China would not be penalized for its emissions, even though China's emissions are growing MUCH faster than U.S. emissions.

China is so full of polutants that it is only a matter of time that we start seeing some bizarre mutations in that region. And the cancer rates will take care of their population problem.
China is already an eco-disaster. It will get incredibly worse.

That number is going to go up too, since a good fraction of their population doesn't even have access to automobiles or electricity.

I feel less guilty.
But there's a ton more people in China so that explains it. Per capita we still pollute more I bet.
