I've recieved an email from a female who is willing to pay by cheque the full asking price for my car without seeing it or having it checked out. She says that she can't come and pick it up herself, has left no contact number or address. I may be a little paranoid but the alarm bells are ringing.

I have a vehicle listed on the internet and have received the same types of offers. Luckily, I have already learned of the scams. They are going to send you a money order or cashiers check for thousands of dollars and they want you to cash it, take your portion and wire the rest to someone else. Please don't fall for this. The money orders are counterfeit. Big scam making its way across the country. I actually agreed to take care of the transaction for one guy but asked if it would be ok if I took the money order to the local police just to make sure everything was ok before I cashed it and made the transaction. I still haven't heard from him.

I would first make sure that the check clears the bank before allowing pick up...i recieved one that said they wanted to buy my car too full price, and would arrange shipping, then two emails later they said they would send extra money and if i could just cash it and send the extra with shipping people all would be good...its a big scam...be careful.

YOU NEVER take a check for a car... that is the scam, the check will bounce or is fake. Tell her that you will only deal in cash, or, for her sake, a money order.
if she has cash, then print out a document that says she is buying the car as is, and under no circumstance will you accept a refund for any part of the vehicle. the buyer is aware of all known problems, and everything from todays date on, is the responsibility of the buyer...

Sounds like some sort of scam - steer clear of it and let the auction run it's course. You don't have to sell it to her if you don't think she's genuine

RUN. No one is stupid enought to buy a car without even seeing it! No contact info? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see you should run away and fast.

100% scam - guaranteed.

If you accept the cheque, it WILL bounce - several months after you think it has cleared...
