It’s like, you’re alive for one minute and capable of being forgiven and let into heaven and the next second it is eternal hell for you. Why do you believe that? That sounds absolutely insane when you think about it.

Its the fallacy of Christianity.
It can't be so.
It is unjust.
Even the Christians don't really believe it.
The Christians are THE most unforgiving people on Earth for chrissake!

Well, I'm no expert but I think you kinda have to mean it, in order to be forgiven.....otherwise, it doesn't really work. I mean, if you're truly sorry for something you did, you don't have to verbally confess your sins and ask for forgiveness....it would already be forgiven. For example, if a mute person sinned, how would they confess?
But like I said, you have to mean it to be forgiven. But what do I know? I'm a christian turned atheist.

Yes, you can be forgiven if you ask for forgiveness. Conversion is possible. But you won't be cast "into the pits of hell" if your salvation is based on asking for forgiveness in your last breath.

Remember - its not a tally of sins/no sins - we are saved through the Grace of Jesus Christ. When he died on the cross, he took our sins upon him and exchange gave us unearned grace. All we have to do is truly accept him as our savior. I don't mean to drag yourself to church and stand up/sit down/kneel - its different/more than that.

Now the question folks will ask - what about mass murderers. If they truly accepted Jesus/God and his grace, they wouldn't murder. They would feel satisfied for the most part and whatever greed, lust, jealousy, fear, etc, that drove them to murder would not be there

Martin Luther said that someone knocking on a brothel door is a search for God. People try to fill that seperation with all sorts of things as "the answer"

I didn't know about unearned grace until this last little bit of my life. I thought one was constantly working to earn favor (and in that mentality - you are never good enough); but i know now that it exists. Just like a child doing good things because they feel they are loved and feel secure versus a child doing things to try to win a parent's attention and love.

having you sin forgiven doesn't get you into heaven. There is one way and that's through Jesus Christ. If you ask for forgiveness that's great but living your life through Jesus is the way into heaven. I love the questions from those who don't take the time to learn

Doesn't it? What a Magnificent, Gracious and Loving God. That He would want No man or women to perish. And what is even more insane, demented, and berserk is the free gift that is offered and how many reject it. The free gift of Eternal LIfe!! We can have it at an early age, and so many wait til the last minute or in their last days!!

The fact that a previously unrepentent sinner on his deathbed can with all sincerity have a repentent heart, admit his sins, ask for forgiveness, and invite Christ into his life and then die and be a co-inheritor of the kingdom of God demonstratres how immeasurably significant and powerful Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and power of faith!

No one is to boast of their works, as if God needs our good works to somehow win His favor. We are insignificant without Christ. All of our works - no matter how good they are -- are in vain without love, i.e. Christ in our life. The wonderful grandmother who has sacrificed all her life for her kids and loved others like herself, and even attended church every Sunday will have done this in vain, if she never accepts Christ as her Lord. We do not appreciate how miserably desperate our fallen state is as an unforgiven sinner. We all deserve eternal life burning in the lake of fire. But through faith in Christ, God's love can shine through us via the Holy Spirit! We are justified before God the Father through faith in Christ! The moment we accept Christ as our Lord is the moment that the suffering and death of Christ pays the price for our sins...whether that is as a child, or moments before death. The blood of Christ is all encompassing, all sufficient in redeeming anyone at any point in their life. To think otherwise suggests that you boast in your works. May that never be your understanding of salvation.

Actually you have to prey for fogiveness and no matter what the crime god will forgive u, on your death bed you have your soul, but you are not living as a person in flesh, so you cannot ask for forgiveness then, then you are judged wheter u go to heaven or hell.

Anyone who truly repents and believes in Christ will be saved. But waiting until your "death bed" is a little risky since all of us may not get a death bed...or Christ may return before our death bed scene.

But, it's still not that simple. Someone who leads a hedonistic and/or very selfish life with still spend a long, long time in purgatory. You still have to be purged of your sins.

You can't just be forgiven on your death bed and expect to go to Heaven. That is insane. It is a cop-out. Live however you want, and when you know you're going to die, you ask for forgiveness. God sees this. He will judge based on the heart.
