Got a massive ticket, but not in the state I used to live in. That state said I have to take a defensive driving course or have the license suspended. Since then, I've moved and gotten a new vehicle with a completely different policy. The ticket was never noticed by the ins company back in the old state, and since I've gotten a new license, in the current state, can I not take the class and not have the suspension happen?

I use to have my insurance license. If they suspend your license it goes on a national database and you will get your current license in the new state suspended as well. When they check. It is your legal responsibility within 10 days to notify your current state that your license from another state has been suspended.

Now this is what is really interesting to me. When you got your license in the new state you should of had to surrender your license from the other state. The old state will notify them and chances are the new state never should have given you a license. Unless you lied. And if you did, what you pay for insurance is the least of your troubles. Your insurance company will find out. Just hope you didnt lie to them as well.

This word called fraud or misrepresentation.... Well Insurance Companies and State Agencies are kinda bitchy about.

No. The state you were ticketed in will suspend your right to drive in that state. When that happens, they probably will notify all the others at some point. Then your license will be no good anywhere.
Take the class to avoid that and possible contempt of court for ignoring a court order.

Your licence, when suspended in the old state, will be suspended in the new state. When you renew your licence, you will have a question to answer on the lines of "is your licence or right to drive currently suspended," etc. Contact the DMV in your old state, do not mention you have a new licence or they will have it suspended while you are still on the phone (computers, you know), and ask how to take the class now.

If the current insurance company finds out by doing a background check on your previous policy, then you will still get revoked. And usually we do... Just take the class. It's not so bad.

This is the age of interagency communication.

EVENTUALLY one of them is going to talk to another and a bit of catchup will be done. When that happens it usually is at the worst possible time, so you might as well clear it up now.

Leave well enough alone. No one has ever benefitted by going to the police.
