Did you know that a muslim is rewarded with Paradise for mourning the loss of a friend with dignity? By dignity, I mean by just shedding tears, not going all crazy like so many are? Yes, muslims can enter Paradise for mourning their friends who die.

What do you feel about this quote?

"The Apostle of God wept over Sad b. Ubadah. And he said, "Have not you heard that the Lord doth not punish on account of shedding tears, not from sobs of the heart from the afflicted?" He is not of the people of our way who slappeth his cheeks and teareth his collar, and mourneth like the mournings of Ignorance.

There is no reward but Paradise for a Muslim who suffereth with patience when the soul of his affectionate friend is taken"

Cristina, you are being facetious: its about sincerity. Tears from the heart shows compassion and sincerity. Any other tears would be crocodile tears. Lets not pretend not to understand just to be contentious and facetious. Its about having a soft heart displaying compassion.

It is beautiful 7ProudMuslimah, thanks for sharing that.
Salam alaikum.

In Islam, as much as you love your fellow Muslims, Allah loves you more. As I said before, Islam is all about unity. Nothing makes Allah happier than Muslims uniting.

But, for your information, although it is good for Muslims to mourn the loss of friends, yet it is not recommended to mourn a lot. There's a hadith of the Prophet which he mentioned that mourning should NOT exceed 3 days. That's why in Muslims communities (like ours) when someone dies, his/her relatives accept condolences of people for three days only, and that's by sitting in a mosque (for men) and a house (for women). As for women, if their husband dies, they are not allowed to interact with any man (non mahram) for 4 months and 3 days. After that she can go out and meet people, she can also re-marry if she wants.

As for those who go all crazy & hit themselves and stuff, it is forbidden to do so. This means that you do not approve the will of Allah, and that is haram.

Thank you for sharing.
A relative of mine passed away recently...I cried and cried day and night. I had such a hard time coming to terms with his death. I became depressed, I didn't want to meet anyone or go anywhere. At night I couldn't sleep, I felt so restless. I would sometimes cry myself to sleep. It was very hard. I knew that Allah (SWT) rewards those who are patient and that it's a sin to scream and go crazy. InshaAllah with the help and guidance of Allah I got through the difficult time. Every week I noticed that I felt a little better than the week before. I remember this person alot and pray for him. I still cry sometimes when I think about him but I'm not as depressed as I was back then.
May Allah help us all to be patient InshaAllah.

ALLAH(SWT) said in His book, Qura'an which means : And those who are plighted by affliction(disaster, woe, calamity), said we are for Allah and to Him we are returning. Those, are having prayers from Allah and those are the righteous people(winners of paradise).

sorry if it's a weak translation..

بسم الله : و بشر الصابرين الذين اذا أصابتهم مصيبة قالوا انا لله و انا اليه راجعون . أولئك عليهم صلوات من ربهم و أولئك هم المفلحون

If this was true, this can only prove that going to paradise or heaven is by the GRACE of GOD and only GOD"S decision....and also in this case I will just spend my time crying sincerely over @ dead bodies in the funeral so I can have that ticket to paradise, moreso I will tell all the prisoners in the entire universe to simply cry on people's dead bodies.
