I've asked myself that same question several times. Regardless of most peopels arguments on here, most of the people over there right now signed up knowing there is a war going on (or was about to be) and went for it anyway. I know people who knew they'd end up in Iraq when they signed up - often times it's what they signed up for. I don't think they all comprehend that those men and women feel like they're really fighting for something and that their effots will make a lasting impact on ths world, impact that will allow an entire nation of oppressed individuals have freedom to live their lives as they want to - something we, as americans, tend to take for granted. When you swear in you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. You're possibly signing over your life, but you're also signing up for your family to be taken care of in the event that you perish.. It's a beautiful and honorable thing that these men and women are doing, people in this country should be spending a little more time thanking these brave men and women and not whining about something that they don't have control of. do something psitive, send a card and make someone feel like they're really making the difference that they signed up to make..

DON'T ASK ME TO EXPLAIN THE JACKASS PARTY MINDSET.....Mostly they are playing politics mixed with some short sighted peacenicks. They generally are anti Military in peace & war. Just look at San Fran & it's removal of JROTC or the recent anti Blue Angels comments by a city official. They want a military to fight, but then tell them to close the training range in Puerto Rico for the Navy. Weird......

their interest is not in ending the war,it is in forcing our military into full retreat while the democrats/liberals ally the muslims are kept from complete destruction so as they the muslims, can claim a victory over U.S. troops, and democrats/liberals will always remind American troops that they can not enter a conflict and win since they could not defeat a of ragtag muslim army, which they tried to imply before the 1st gulf war, when they said that U.S. troops were no match for the iraqi republican guard.

Because the military sole purpose is to protect America, not Iraqi citizens. Those soldiers that are dying are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles. I am sure that the relatives that have love ones that are fighting in this war would disagree with assessment.

I've got a better question. Why do the Democrats and snivelers want us to stop the war in Iraq but whine about not sending troops to Darfur? What's the difference?

It's not so black and white.
I do have an objective status - just because I don't agree with it and think that it should end soon makes me wrong to think this way.
I pray for the families when I read about these poor soldiers not coming back (except in coffins), or if they do come back they're so mentally warped from what they've seen that their families can't handle it (and apparently, neither can the health care system).
There are many issues tied to this war now - and it's not mission accomplished!

With the extended tours of duty and the repeat call ups, with the difficulties involved in a volunteer getting conscientious objector status, with everything that the military is doing to keep these men and women over there, can you really ask this question the way you did?
At any rate, even if they're volunteers, we don't want to see their lives being wasted for no good reason.

Why? Money.
The US war in Iraq costs America's citizens roughly $7.2 million an hour.
Just go ahead and total that up for 365 days.

Because the democratic party would love nothing more than to see a Republican president during wartime fail. if they started the war, it would be a much different game, they'd be working hard every day to sell it too us like a used car. Politics at times can make me sick!

would think it is in the int rests of whatever party was in power to not have to send their young men and women to armed conflict. This is not (unfortunately) always possible. A Lot of young people join the armed forces because they have no other direction in their lives . You sign on the line then you have to commit to that path. We all want an end to conflict. All I would say is that bullets and bombs only destroy, talking solves problems however hard that is, and it is F#####g hard.
