It's really a matter of what job you will be doing. If you will be operating machinary, driving or some other job that could potentially hurt someone if you nod out, then they can and will deny you the job. There's a possibility they might not want someone who is rx'ed oxycontin and find a different reason to not hire you. But, be honest because it will show in your drug test.

It depends on what type of drug test your hopeful employer uses. Oxycontin can stay in the system for quite some time expecially if you've been taking it for a while. I would just be upfront with them about your use, making sure to tell them that you do take them for medical reasons. It's better to be honest about then to have to try to explain once they get a negative result.

Absolutely, Oxycontin is a synthetic form of heroin, used to treat pain on a short term basis. Highly addictive, easily and frequently abused...you need to get off that stuff as quickly as possible, and find yourself a new Doctor!
Many companies, such as mine, only hire "Drug Free" employees..If you are in a medical situation that requires taking strong meds for a short period of time, you will not be hired at this time..However, if you are upfront about your prescriptions and situation, you would be allowed to come back at a later date and reapply, when you are "Drug Free".

If you have a valid and current prescription for the drug... you declare it at the time of your drug screen. It is in your best interest to bring all of your prescriptions with you to the lab. They lab techs will ask you what drugs, both prescription and over the counter you are taking, and they will exclude those from the screening.
Because a doctor has prescribed them to you....they are not considered illegal drugs.

Oxy----is a legal drugs they test for illegal drugs. Just verify the doctor prescribed it,If it shows up I take strong pain medication, but only if the is so severe I can't stand it. Oxy and its kin are addictive. You don't want to be an addict, then you can't work.

I believe you need to show proof you are being prescribe the medication. Normally your pharmacy can do a print out...or your Dr can write on an rx pad explaining that you are on it.

Not if you give the prospective employer a copy of your prescripton. It would be descrimination if they don't consider you based on the meds. They shouldn't need any more than that, and to ask for any more info would infringe on your right to privacy.
