In Quran God says "And nearest among them(Muslims) in love to the believers wilt
thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men
devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not
arrogant" {Quran 5:82}

Both Muslims and Chirstians believe in the Second coming of the Christ, both are instructed to follow him word by word on his second coming. What will take for these two not to judge the world and each other but organize with each other for common good and leave the judgement of there actions solely to God!

Another Surah from the Quran says
"Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah(God) and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve"

Jesus Christ also asked not to Judge.

So what are Muslims and Christians waiting for???

Well, if all the members of those two religions lived and acted according to the most benevolent interpretation of their scriptures, that would happen. In fact, if that were the case, it would solve a lot of problems in the world.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that prefer to accentuate less positive portions of those scriptures. If you try hard enough, you can find stuff in those books to justify almost any behavior, (or at least appear to justify it).

At any rate, I doubt Christians and Muslims will manage to start working in harmony together as long as Muslims are still fighting Muslims and Christians are still fighting Christians. People have to make peace in their own houses before they can spread peace outside their houses. Unfortunately, those types of conflicts don't seem likely to go away any time soon.

I just noticed that someone else answering this question has demonstrated my claim that some people prefer to accentuate more negative portions of their scriptures!
Someone named "Hello" answered with:

"The ayah you quoted seems to confuse a lot of ignorant muslims. The tafsir of the ayah is clear. Christians will be in the fire if they reject Muhammad as the final Prophet. The Messenger said in a clear hadith that anyone who hears of him, and denies him will be in the fire."

This fellow is not only using an extremely negative portion of Islamic text, he is actually promoting the text of a Hadith over the text of the Quran! Its a sad, sick world....

We have completely different Gods.
We do not agree with sharia law.
We do not treat our women like Islam does.
Christians reject Mohammad as a prophet let alone final.
Why do Muslims treat Christians a 2nd class citizens?

Remember you asked the question and I am giving a truthful answer.. as all Muslim related questions and answers seem to get eliminated so that everyone just says " yes yes " to these questions.

Salient observation. Already, there is the Red Cross/Red Crescent which support each other. Indeed, all people of any (or no) religion should provide for each others' needs merely for their humanity.

Basically for God and Allah to come down and say that they have merged and are now operating under one umbrella group
