I noticed that on the highways, the name of the road going over tha highway is listed. Why do they do that. Isn't it useless to the people on the highway?

It does help you to have an idea of just where you are at. It's more informational.

Great for calling 911 and you need to tell them where on a freeway you are (example: I am traveling north bound on hwy 11 and just passed Expo Ave, coming up on Arden Way).

Plus, you can see the exit you just missed and get all pissed off at yourself.

Or, if you have really good eyesight, you can see the sign and realize that's the street you need and cut everyone off while you veer off to the right to make it.

you may be looking for roads you pass as reference points. you know....that was Main St....i'll pass 2 more roads before my exit
