What's wrong with Boston T's? I adopted 3 pure breeds that were rescued from a puppy mill. They are the best dogs I have ever had. They are smart, good tempered, full of energy, and friendly to everyone. Bonus- they don't bark alot.

There is NO such thing as a "miniature short hair collie". If you want a purebred, go to akc.org and learn about REAL breeds, not mixes and fantasy breeds or wannabes who are just breeding for money. Since you're undecided on a breed, I suggest you check out petfinder.com and look for one that catches your eye.

Below are links to dog breed selectors. You answer some questions about your lifestyle, what size dog you want, and if you want it to shed and it tells you what breed of dog will do the best with you. Try them all because they may give slightly different breeds and ask slightly different questions.

OR…
You could get a mixed breed dog from a shelter. A good source is www.petfinder.com You type in your zip code, the breed of dog you want, and the age preference and it gives you tons of choices.
Good luck with the search, and please be sure to read up on training and everything before you get your dog.

30 pounds as an adult?
How about a PBGV? They are not shorthaired, but wirehaired and they don't shed too much.
Or just go to petfinder or the shelter and rescue an adult dog (purebred or mixed).. you will already know their ultimate size.
