Your employers should instruct you in the operation of the taco be it disk or card. Disk - fill in your name, start place, reg, date and mileage. Make sure the clock is correct. With a digital card press the eject button place the card with your photo face down close the tray and follow the instructions on the screen.
Have fun.

This must be a U.K. question. With the advent of satellite tracking, and computerized dispatching, most American trucking companies have done away with the use of tachographs. Few companies really liked chopping up their truck's / lorry's instrument panel to install those ugly things, which reduced the vehicles resale value. A really sharp driver knew how to "cheat" on the tachograph chart any way.

You dont have to fill it in. Just put it in the appropriate place and it will fill itself. You only need to add the date and other things which are in the middle.

It is the responsibility of your employer to ensure you are aware how to operate the tachograph.
He is also required to check these to ensure you are not breaking the law. Drivers hours, meal breaks etc.
Failure on his behalf to do so could result in the loss of his operators licence.
