Probably because they believe that he doesn't. Despite the many bad things happening in the world, I believe that he does exist. There are so many things pointing to something greater than us. Look at all living things - flowers, birds and human beings. How can anyone say that there is no greater brain that has come up with all that? That is beyond me. But then again - I don't expect others to share my belief - I just don't understand why they don't see that there is something bigger than us human beings out there. To me, God exists!

Well there are a lot of reasons, we can't really pinpoint it to one overlying cause. Some people don't beleive because they've had religion shoved down their throat for so long that they decide to go against everything they've been taught. Some are betrayed by someone in the church and translate that to mean that not only was that person a liar but everything they said was a lie, including God. Some don't like the idea of someone/something more powerful than them controling their lives, they need that control. Some have explored other relgions and come to the conclusion that there is not "God" in the christian sense of the word. For the most part I've found that people who don't beleive in God also hate those who do, not for any particular reason, just because they believe in him, so that leads me to beleive that they have had a negative experience with religion or God, perhaps they lost someone close to them and their anger at God is manifest in their denial of his existence, which oddly enough confirms his existence, becuase if he didn't exist then there would be nothing to deny. At any rate it seems to be a negative experience in most cases, otherwise there would be no reason to attack others. So there are a few reasons but there are a million more I'm sure, just as everyone who believes in God has their own reasons for doing so, I'm sure those who don't also have their own resons. At any rate it's rather arrogent to think that we are the highest lifeform in existence. I'll admit that I don't beleive in God in the traditional sense of a guy with a beard up on a cloud but I do beleive in an entity of some sort, perhaps God is just all the energy of the universe?

Because people are jerks, and delight in critisizing other peoples beliefs. I don't know for sure if God exsists, but their must be some truth in it all, because most religions seem to have rather similar teachings, and beliefs about some sort of higher power. Alot of people I know, say God doesn't exsist because they have read the DaVinci code and other similar books, and are like "hey if fictional novels tell us that Jesus wasn't all holy, and didn't perform miracles, then it must be true, and that means that the whole Christian religion is wrong about everything else, thus there is no God", people are so caught up in those religious conspiracy novels, I mean, I liked the DaVinci code, it was a good book, and so what if that theory about Jesus turns out to be right, he was still a good man, and it doesn't mean that Gods not real. Alot of people my age deny God's exsistence because it's the cool thing to do. It annoys me so much when people insult religion, not just Christianity, any religion.

Because, they are being honest about what they believe.
They have sincerely after considering all the evidence and based on their experiences, come to the conculsion that there is no God.
They say it for the same reason someone might say God does exist: it is what they truly in their heart believe to be true.

If you believe in god fine but you can not assume everyone does or has too. The question is why should people believe that god exists? You can not make people follow something that don't want too.

What a cute question! Well inky, the reason most people say that god doesn't exist, is because there is absolutely no evidence that he does. To profess that something exists, but you have no evidence to back it up, is generally considered a lie. People who say that they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that god exists are simply lying.

because it is hard for people to believe in something they have never seen. God is all about having faith, hope and loving him whole heartedly, and not waiting to see him. i mean we all to look at our famalies and friends they have to have come from some where right and somebody has to be watching over us and keeping us safe. don't you ever feel when things are going right for you or ur family that you have to thank someone? well you can thank God because there is no one that can keep us safe 24/7 only God can. all you have to do is have faith.

Why do you keep saying that he does? Can you prove that there is a God? Which god is correct? Over the ages humans have worshiped hundreds of different Gods, which one is right? Are they all right or all wrong?

Because I asked Him, and He told me that He doesn't exist. Since I know He would not lie, then it must be true.
But seriously, if you are talking about the God of the bible- it's partly because as "His" word, it's own internal contradictions show that it isn't "God-breathed". After that is shot down, what other evidence of a Christian God do we have?
