I have asked about one side of the argument, now to the other side: why should we have prayer in public schools? I would like to hear complete and thought out answers, because I am trying to figure out my stance on the issue.
P.S. If you do not support school prayer, please do no flame this question, leave the spaces open for people who want to give helpful answers to their cause...

I would like to take this edit to clarify: if you are a supporter of school organized or sanctioned prayer, please give a reason why you believe in what you believe.
Also, please do not say anything close the remark: "There will always be prayer in schools if there are tests being passed out."

It seems we only get science and the mechanical side of life in school and not the higher consciousness strivings of the ages. Without official support, people get the idea that it's not fit somehow to look beyond the present knowledge. Thinking isn't taught either. You don't need overmuch to be a worker bee without complaining. Your not taught self esteem, but I learned degradation pretty well. I think leaders are beginning to see that bright people are more useful and don't tend to act out so much. Management by intimidation has too many flaws and can be too discouraging. Love is a better concept along with co-operation in the workplace instead of excess competition. We used to read a psalm every morning also. I saw a higher value to strive for, now we have no values. Intead of intellectual curiosity we have bi-curiosity. Religion is a call to a better view. I would not be opposed to reading from any spiritual literature. Some of it is excellent. At least it would celebrate our diversity. If it's classical literature and values we want to encourage, I guess we could make some decisions like that. The teach other alternative lifestyles. Let's be fair. If it's illegal, don't teach it. We teach about what people do, some of it horrible.

I believe that students should be able to pray in schools, however, I don't think that public schools should determine what is prayed (i.e. it shouldn't be led by an administrator).
I don't want someone else leading my child in prayer unless I have approved their theology, but I believe my child ought to be able to pray on his own and shouldn't be persecuted or harrassed for it.
On the other hand, no one can deny that our society has declined in terms of crime, morality, etc. since prayer and the 10 commandments were taken out of schools, so I'm kinda torn on the issue myself.

I support it, but I believe it should be voluntary and not forced. When I was in school they had pledge to the flag and a moment of silent meditation - it was a start of the day routine, harmless, but some teachers were very rude and made it manditory to do. I believe it should be done, but by those who wish to, after all it's just as cold to say don't do it as it is to say you must do it. So I support the idea that it should be as it was, a routine start-of-day idea for anyone who wishes to participate. Those who don't can at least show some respect for those who do by reading a book or something quiet.

As long as we have algebra tests, there will always be prayer in school. But seriously folks...
The issue isn't about allowing prayer in public school. Students can already pray all they want. They can even have an extra-curricular Bible club if they want. However, MANDATORY prayer, or prayer LED by a teacher that the whole class is expected to participate in, is another issue.

we don't. it is going to no longer be authorised. surely any Christians attending a public college could have relatives prayer in simple terms before leaving domicile. college is for the purpose of receiving an training. Prayer has no place in a public college device. Public colleges could be independent to any non secular impacts or practices.

We should have prayer in school because there are so many bad things going on in schools today and the children and teensagers in school are growing up in public schools thinking that it is cool not to beleive in God, and if there was prayer in school there would be less and less school killings and all the bad things that go on in schools today.
School should be a place where even the children who have problems at there homes, like children whos parents wont take them to church on Sundays, they should be able to come to school and at least be able to pray or even learn of Jesus.
And the government always trys to say if you want you child to pray in school to put them in a private christian school, but you know it should be the other way around if you would prefer your child doesnt pray in school, then those are the parents who should have to put there children in a private school, God created all of us and everything and everyone around us, and the least we could do in return for him dying for our sins is mention his name in the public schools.
Thats why kids are growing up now doing all this bad stuff before they turn 10 and I think if we had Jesus in our schools we would have better generations of kids and maybe they could at least try to put a stop to all the bad news you hear when you turn on the news.
I think that there should be prayer in school, and if there isnt things are going to keep getting worse generation after generation of childrenn who grow up in the public schools where they dont even here that name. Jesus.
Thanks!
And God Bless!

There are several reasons why prayer should be brought back into the school systems today. One, if there were prayer in school this could help children to understand how the world was started. Prayer in school may influence a child to read the bible. The child could learn a lot about how the world came about by reading the bible. Prayer in school could also influence a child to be thankful and more appreciative of others. For instance, our school systems today have turned to violence and hatred. If a child is taught about God in school then the child has a better chance of having good morals and is more respectful of others. Therefore, if a child has good morals the child would not want to be violent. If the child’s parent’s do not teach the child about God at home, does not take them to church or read the bible to them, then school is the only place for them to learn about God.
If the child is not taught about God or religion at home or in school then this could be harmful to the child and also to the public. Children who have no knowledge of God tend to have lower morals than children who have knowledge and believe in God. If children do not believe in God than they seem to think it is okay to carry a gun to school and kill someone. They believe that doing drugs is okay. If you have a parent’s at home that do not believe in God and do drugs than the children think well mom and dad can do it why can’t I. If the child does not believe in God then they think stealing is okay. It seems to me that if the child does not believe in God then they have nothing to fear, therefore, they feel they are invisible and can do anything and it will be okay. If a child is not taught about God and religion at home than school is their only source of learning.
There are many people in the world today who are completely against prayer in schools. These people feel their children should not have to be exposed to prayer during school time. Maybe the parent’s themselves do not believe in God and they want the same for their children. Myself personally I can not think of any reason not to bring prayer back into the school systems.
I believe prayer should be brought back into the school systems. I think if religion was more focused on in school, then the school systems would be a better and safer place for our children today. I also believe the teachers would feel more safe at their jobs if they had the chance to teach a student about God.

There are three religions that pray to the same God. Christians, Jews, and Muslims. Students feel the need to remember God in all we do.
In my own schools I have been taking a smaller action. I'm trying to bring the "moment of silence back in schools." We had that a few years ago when I was in Middle School. Students with faith would take the oppertunity to pray, and the athiests benefited by meditation and reflecting over their day. There were no complaints and no one could accuse us of religious discrimination.
