Most Americans do not hate immigrants and are proud of our mixed cultural heritage. However the difference between immigrants of the past and immigrants to day is the reasons for immigrating in the first place. We a experiencing a group of people who come to American to take advantage of this countries generosity. They use the system with out contributing to it. Is it fare to a legal immigrant that came to this country with the hopes of making a better life for himself, by working hard, adopting the American culture and language and giving back to the system all his life to find out that he will not reap the fruits of his labor because we are going to reward a criminal who has no intent on becoming an American. People used to be proud of there new home now illegals just want to turn this place into Mexico. If these people are willing to protest in the streets of America demanding to get every thing that a citizen would get, then why not protest the streets of Mexico and demand an end to the corruption. If your home became in disrepair due to your lack of maintenance, would you simply board it up and move into your neighbors back yard with out permission, and on top of that demand to be allowed access to the kitchen. I would hope not.

I feel that a moritoriam should be placed on all but emergency cases for a period of 5 years. All current illegal immigrants need to apply for citizenship for themselves and their families. Every person must be able to speak the English language before being allowed to enter this country to be a citizen. No person with a criminal history should be allowed to enter the country. No immigrants are allowed any benefits from the U.S. government for a period of 15 years. They must become a citizen within a specified time. This should apply to ALL immigrants.

what about mexican immigration? It is pretty simple, and it is the same with all immigration. If an immigrant comes here legally and pays the fee and does it correctly then good for them, however, if they choose to flaunt our law, steal our taxes, not pay their taxes, use our healthcare and education systems, come here illegally, and parade with their flag in our streets then something is wrong: They hate this country and therefore need to be sent back to the country they love. We shouldn't prevent refugees from being sent back home and it is the same with those who do not care for America and love mexico more: THEY SHOULD BE SENT BACK!

I think Mexicans in America should have to follow the same laws and rules that Americans in Mexico have to follow.

I read a very interesting article about the behavior of Americans regarding immigration, which is the same behavior that repeats itself. First, it was the irish. After digging in gold mines and doing the dirty work, they were asked to go back. Then it was the chinese: after building lots of roadways they were also asked to leave. The same thing is happening to Latinos now.

I am a child of a legal alien parent. Except my family is from Brasil. To me people come here to make a better life for themselves. As long as they're being productive to say then I see no problem with it. Alot of times Mexican immigrants are doing the jobs that lazy Americans don't want to do including myself and this is beneficial to entire communities across the US...
