I beleive that once you have been saved, that you can not lose your salvation. But I have heard that some denominations don't believe this way. What do you believe and what denomination are you.

I am Baptist. I believe once you are saved, you are always saved. From John Chapter 10:

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

I am a Catholic Christian. Yet while the Catholic faith supports the existence of both Heaven and Hell, I personally cannot imagine that the God I believe in would ever send anyone into a state of existence robbed of all things good. How could an all-compassionate, ever-loving God sentence *any* of his children, however misbehaved, to an eternity of punishment? Based on what I've been taught from the Bible about God, either Hell is temporary, or everyone goes to Heaven.

But that veers a little off topic. In terms of being saved, the Catholic Church teaches that salvation is determined by acts of good work and faith. We don't believe in predestination (I'll leave it at that), so we assume that we're *always* working for salvation, at least until Judgment Day, which I assume is at the end of each person's life. In other words, we believe that no one is saved until that day -- we should always try to strengthen and maintain our faith, and always strive to do good works.

This is a belief of Southern Baptists...of which I used to belong...now I am Methodist.

I do believe that once you are saved, that you cannot lose your salvation.

However, some that believe they are "saved" and say they are "saved", actually never came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in the first place..and they fell away from religion/church/salvation. So, they did not lose their salvation...they never had it to begin with.

Look at some of these fundies on this site...read their posts...you will see their actions/ways are not of God...I am sure most would claim salvation. However, by their actions I question their heart. Obviously, only God knows another's heart....but, many here do not act so Christian.

There is one unforgivable sin that is written about in the Bible and that is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Knowing that God will not allow unforgiven sin in Heaven, I would have to come to the conclusion that if you do this after you have been saved (based on the definition, you can't do it before you are saved)that you will not be allowed to enter, or you will have lost your salvation. But be ware...Paul tells us that 'are we to sin so that grace may abound? of course not.' Just because we are saved, doesn't give us the right to go out and commit murder or whatever and then say opps sorry God. He knows that we are human and make mistakes but lets be realistic.

No denomination...just what the Bible tells us.

Based on my studies it appears if someone had salvation and then lost it, it was because they never were saved in the first place. There are on the surface good verses for both sides of the argument. There are verses that seem to suggest that it is possible to lose your salvation: 2 Pet. 2:1; Gal. 5:4; Heb. 10:26; 6:4_6; Ps. 69:28, and there are also verses that seem to say you cannot lose your salvation: John 10:27_28; Heb. 13:5; Matt. 7:21_23; 1 John 2:19; Rom. 8:38_39. However, 1 John 2:19 says in dealing with antichrists, "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us," (NASB).

Judas lost it.
Those that blaspheme against the holy spirit can loose it.
"Once saved, always saved" can be taken to mean that once you call upon the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, there is no need to be saved again and again like the way that the Jews had to atone for their sins daily, weekly, monthly, annually, and each jubilee. The saving as performed by Christ was and has been done once for all times, no more need for a re-saving by any other act.
Salvation is by grace, not by works that any of us can do to earn it. It is a gift from God. We should treat it as a gift, cherish it, protect it, value it above all else.
Once we die or the rapture occurs, when we have been GIVEN salvation and eternal reward, then it cannot be taken away.

To "Me" above, the unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the holy spirit. This sin indicates that you have knowledge of God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost and deliberately going against God's plan, design, and purpose.

I believe that once saved always saved. I am a Southern Baptist. I know some denominations beleive that every time you do something wrong you are not saved and have to repent again and again. We are all sinners. no one is perfect. But I believe that their are sins in my life that I don't even remember or know about and Jesus died long ago to save us from all sins and if you give your life to him he cleanses us from that sin. Just pray or talk to god everyday.

Once saved always saved was the invention of a Roman Catholic Priest, named John Calvin.

John Calvin was a few years younger than Martin Luther.

I was raised Lutheran and raised to believe, "once saved, always saved", but then as I grew older I read the Bible for myself and found out that lots of things Calvin and Luther taught were not true.

For example they both believed in infant sprinkling and calling that baptism.

They believed God's Grace saved babies who were baptized when they were only a few weeks old.

And once you got baptized as a baby you could never lose that salvation.

There are many warnings in the Bible, warning us not to lose our salvation. Why are those warning there if we could not lose it?

I don't classify myself under a denomination, but my church falls under the Assemblies of God category. I, just like you, believe that once you've turned your life over to God, you cannot lose your salvation. However, I also believe that we are supposed to live our lives to the best of our abilities as Christ called us to. You shouldn't just accept God as your Savior and then intentionally sin knowing you have a "get out of hell free card."

I'm not 100% sure where I stand .... "once saved, always saved" - to some people - might translate into providing free lisence to do whatever, whenever. On the other hand, the thought of losing my salvation through Jesus Christ makes me really wonder if I'm saved now and if I ever was.

I am a bible believing Christian and I believe that when you get saved from your mouth and confess, you also have to get saved from your heart, there has to be a change, that takes place ,from that moment on it is all about Jesus and not you anymore. And there has to be a denouncing of sin and all evil works . You cannot live a life of sin and believe to go to heaven . We must do the things , that glorify God and we become ambassadors to the Son of God.
It's not just a one-time lip service. It is a godly lifestyle.
There has to be a change of heart and a renewing of the mind and daily study of His Word will bring a change.
We need to be born again into the Holy Spirit of God.
