Your parents are right, the tongue does have sexual meaning. It basically means to most that if they see a girl with her tongue pierced shes willing to give head. I suggest actually reading up on it. Tongue piercings have a high level of rejecting. your piercing a muscle. Thats like piercing your calf basically. its a muscle and it will swell. Rejection is likely let alone infection. Infection in tongues happen very often.

Youre 16, I am too. My dad is against piercings because of side effects. I suggest do your research on it. In depth!! Call around local shops. Ask them in detail. Youtube search videos of kids getting their tongue pierced. Search for every possible side effect. Print out all the information you have and if you still feel like you want it done then sit down your parents and talk. Dont get upset if they say no. Just go through the information you have. It works, i got my piercings like that. Snakebites and a monroe. If they say yes, dont pressure the date that youll get it done. That yes and leave as fast as it came.

most of the people that i know that have had their tongue done are sorry they did. It hurts like hell , your tongue swells for days and some people never learn to talk right again. It's seen as sexual because some folks swear that it gives great sensation in oral sex but your parents are right that it has a bad conotation.Maybe if you back off on the tongue they will let the cartilege go.

I'd say you have to be a little rebelious in life, I'm 25, and I've had all the piercings I've evr wanted to have, but against my parents will! Luckily I was smart enough to hide them while they were still fresh piercings, and later after they healed, I took them out while I was at home so my parents woulden't see them and rip them out of my skin!!! Just wait to get the tongue ring done, who knows, you might not even want it after a while...And as for the cartilage, if you do it, make sure you keep your hair down over it while you around them, and as soon as it's healed...Take it out so they can't see it! But remember to put it back in so it won't close up while you're not around them!

I think you have enough for your age, and when you are 18 you can do whatever you want. A tongue piercing is very unclassy on a 16-year old girl (or any girl for that matter) and alot of piercings are going to hinder your chance of getting a good job-employers tend to have less respect for people with alot of piercings. Anyone who stupidly wants to disagree with me, why do you take out your tongue ring when you go for an interview?

yeah, I'd wait until you were 18 for the tounge. I agree...I think boys will see it as a sexual meaning as well. I know in college I always went after the girls w/ the tounge rings. If you still want it in a few years, have at it.

I was allowed to have my bellybutton done for my 16th birthday but after that, anything else I wanted I had to wait til after I turned 18. You could always tell them that piercings are less permanent than tattoos, but you may still have to just wait.

My parents were the same way, I waited until I was 18. As long as you live at home you need to respect their rules. Just wait a couple yrs.

I refused to let my daughter get type of body piercing. I only allowed her to pierce her lobes once. When she turned 18 & moved on her own she pierced her naval. As long as you're still living with your parents you have to follow & respect their rules, even if you disagree with them. Good luck.

I would consider myself lucky for the piercings that I already have... and wait until I am legal and mature enough to do the rest. If you still want it then .... great. Goodluck!

parents don't always use logic -- there is no point in trying to find logic in their arguements.

what i am seeing is right now you are 16 -- thats just 2 short years away from you being able to pierce anything you want to.
