Some towns and cities have laws as to the length of a blade you can have at parks and stuff, some have laws against "conceiled" weapons, so you can't keep it hidden in a sword bag, but must walk with it in the open. Check your locality.

No, in most States you'd get arrested. Isn't it strange? In the United States of America we have the right to keep, and bear arms as stated in the Constitution. Yet, we do not have the right to choose which weapons we wish to bear. I've always been puzzled by that. BTW. Carrying a Katana on your back is only practical for the sole purpose of transporting the weapon. ( You don't have to adjust your stride to accommodate the extra length of the weapon.) Not at all practical should you need to use it.

As a decoration and something to play with on your own personal time, yes. As a real weapon, probably not. I think so though because I saw a store down in Florida that sells them.

Yes, however WALKING around with it, is not.

you should check individual state laws about the transporting of it to and from the dojo.

EDIT: There is no such thing as a "realistic" ninja-to, as this weapon did not exist historically. The closest thing is a straight bladed katana called a "choku to".

OK this is the real answer cuz I asked this to a law officail. You can have a sword that is a fake, you can have a real Katana if it was during that war, but if it is now days and it is folded it is illegal to get it.

My ex-brother-in-law has a decent collection of them, so, yes it is legal for american residents to own them.

You know i've actually seen places in malls selling really realistic katanas and Ninja-To's.

So i guess they are, you can buy them places, and if stores sell them they are probly legal.

If you go to amazon it only says that you cant sell them to minors.

it varies from town to town and from state to state, where i live they are not legal without a number of permits and can't be taken out of your house. but there is no national law against them
