Some insect species undergo various transformations in different phases of their lives. For instance, this small caterpillar will soon draw back to its cocoon after deriving energy feeding on leaves, and undergo a series of transformations. When it gets out of its cocoon, it will be a bright colored butterfly able to fly. This process called metamorphosis is an example of design which evolution can never explain. This is because such a progressive and complex process can in no way be explained by coincidences.

Even a single mistake in a single stage of
metamorphosis would cause the animal to die. This perfectly designed process is an apparent evidence of creation.

Life, in itself is a miracle of God, let alone nature. A design such as the design of nature only speaks of a Designer. Look at the co-existence of many different types of species and how they thrive off the laws that govern nature. It is foolish to presume that all these things came out of choas, by chance.

This is an argument from incredulity. Because one does not understand how butterfly metamorphosis evolved does not mean it is too complex to have evolved.

Growth patterns intermediate to full metamorphosis already exist, ranging from growth with no metamorphosis (such as with silverfish) to partial metamorphosis (as with true bugs and mayflies) complete metamorphosis with relatively little change in form (as with rove beetles), and the metamorphosis seen in butterflies. It is surely possible that similar intermediate stages could have developed over time to produce butterfly metamorphosis from an ancestor without metamorphosis. In fact, an explanation exists for the evolution of metamorphosis based largely on changes in the endocrinology of development (Truman and Riddiford 1999).

1) Who told you "evolution cannot explain" this? Have you picked up some science books to research the subject? My guess is you haven't, and that you just want to troll strawman arguments in hopes of reinforcing your own naive conclusions.

2) Even if you couldn't explain it, that does not prove creationism. There is always the possibility of another explaination that isn't "the big invisible man did it".

Again, if you REALLY wanted to know what science has to say on this subject, the material is available. You can go to the library and read "The Origins of Insect Metamorphosis" from vol. 401 of "Nature", p447-452.

But that sounds too much like work, doesn't it?

Realize what you are refuting. You are refuting the last 77 years of all biological work. You are refuting any and all DNA evidence. You are refuting everything we have learned about the brain, cancer, organs, surgery, the medical industry as a whole, and damned near everything in science by stating that evolution is crap. All our advances since 1930 have been based off it being the truth. What you are stating is everything we have learned since then is a lie.

Although I do like Laptop Jesus' comment on something similar. "So god magicked it up is a better answer?"

Nope, not evidence. Many creatures undergo distinct changes to adulthood. Your assertion that any error is fatal is not supported by fact. There is a limited tolerance for error and the ones that stay within tolerance are the ones that reproduce. Their offspring are more likely to stay within tolerance. The most impressive aspect is that evolution found a way to suspend the developmental process to allow the intermediate (caterpillar) stage to specialize in eating before progressing to the adult (butterfly) stage for reproduction. It, of course, offered survival advantages.

No, but it is possible to trace how this capacity evolved by studying molecular genetics. Metamophosis is not that different from the processes involved in embryogenesis, where gene action is switched on and off at different developmental stages. No mystery there, it is completely understood from an evolutionary perspective.

And what, pray tell, is this process designed to accomplish? If it is so perfectly designed....... what is it's purpose for being designed in this way... aside from making an ugly little caterpillar into a pretty butterfly?!

In no way is it evidence of creation. Evolution is not a matter of "coincidence", but of a long string of adaptations. Any adaptation that causes the creature to die before breading would tend not have been passed on.

It's possible, but it's not at all necessary.

You arguing from the failure of imagination.
"I can't see how this could have happened, so God must have done it."

A proposed mechanism and rationale for the evolution of metamorphosis has been around for some time.

Yes, metamorphosis is a very complicated yet beautiful process. I agree with what you said, something like this had to be designed. God bless.
