How can you protect the institution of marriage when you can't protect it from divorce?

As usual, Canada has exhibited it's tolerance and understanding of unique individuals and their needs by accepting gay marriage under the law. Gay people here are respected as taxpaying, law-abiding citizens who deserve the right to love whomever they wish without interference from ignorant strangers who give themselves permission to pry into their private lives. The passing of related laws like spousal benefits has been slow, but hasn't been ruled out.

As to the weak excuses offered above that divorce is necessary in case one person of the marriage changes, I have this to say ... when you marry you make a vow TO GOD to love, honour and respect in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, forever and forever, TIL DEATH US DO PART. Not "until I want to get out of this crappy marriage!"

People don't TRY anymore! They "hang in there" in a marriage until they decide they don't want to anymore and then they just say, "To hell with it," and leave their marriage partner. There are millions of little kids out there with a father living somewhere else because one or the other parent just didn't want to TRY anymore like they promised God they would. Those devout Christians who have divorced already have no right to voice their criticizm of gays who want to marry because they made a vow to God to tough it out in marriage and they lied and broke it.

I'm not faulting Christian women who married and then found out their husbands were criminals or despicable wife-beaters, but I still believe, if you are divorced, you can't trash gays who are in love for wanting to give marriage a shot too.

So if you're going to ban gay marriage, have the balls to BAN DIVORCE FIRST.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges, but okay - it's just a theory, right? I have a lot of gay friends and I definitely think they deserve legal protection - but I also understand the point of view that is against gay marriage because where *do* we draw the line? If the gays marry, the polygamists are going to demand their rights, too. Then, the freaks who want to marry their dog or cat will start demanding rights, too. Don't say it won't happen - some flake already married a dolphin. Just do a search - you'll find it. I think gay couples at the very least should be protected by civil unions, but I honestly don't see how we can change the definition of marriage for homosexuals and not for the polygamists or people who just love their pets a little too much.

Gay marriages should be banned, and don't even think of banning divorces. Divorces are needed for certain couples, depending on how worse their situation is. Divorces do brake up relationships sometimes, and it is unfortunate. For a couple who isn't in love any more and can't stop arguing and fighting, a divorce is one of the best things for those people's future. A divorce can help a family in good ways. My parents are getting a divorce, and I don't have to hear my parents fight every night over and over again. For me, it is a good thing. Well there are other setbacks, but that is a separate story.

Gay marriages don't do anything use full. Two gay guys can't give birth to children, like a mother and father can. For this reason, gay marriages will eventually stop growth of population. Who wants to see to guys kissing each other, and who wants to see to guys having love together? That is just nasty. All gays care for is, taking their shirts off and "crawling into bed" with another guy. That is reticules.

My point is divorces are sometimes needed, even if you think it or not. Gay marriages are pointless, and are less important then divorces.

Divorce is already banned in the Christian Church. I mean the real Christian Church, the One founded by Jesus Christ on the Apostles. That Church takes "until death do us part" seriously, even if manmade denominational churches don't. It isn't a matter of being "morally superior". Just moral.

We tried that already and lost. This is the last stand; if we lose this, then polygamy is next.

The following article was written by someone who is neither a fundamentalist, nor a Christian, but he makes some good points. It is too long to post here:

BTW, are you saying that you want Gay Divorce?

LOL!!! I always thought it funny that Christians are SCREAMING to ban gay marriage, but the divorce rate among Christians is 58%...

That raises so many jokes and questions its not even funny.

Dear Brothers/Sisters
the correct word you should have used is homosexual instead of Gay, the word gay was first used for people who were happy and easy going not taking seriously their problems of this world.

Regarding you question,
By nature we are born in pairs of male and female.
and by nature male and female when they come together they reproduce and that’s natural but homosexual is a devilish and pervert act.
You will notice that by nature and science pervert and homosexuals people have higher rate of sexual diseases.

Is this not evidence that we are not made or supposed to have homosexuality.
Life is precious and enjoy as we are supposed to enjoy and not invent new way to have pleasure.

Banning of divorce is not possible. Let’s take a small scenario
suppose you marry a person and you know he is a very nice, humble and smart person but after say 4 or 5 or 6 years you find that this man is a cheater or thief or murderer so if we implement this law of not divorcing then you are stuck with this person for life.

Of course! A biblical definition of marriage is very well defined regarding divorce.

Banning divorce...methinks the murder rate per capita would escalate tremendously.
