The two cars don't fit under the same class. Charger has much higher torque and hp and is defin. quicker. But overall, I'd say fusion is in a much better standing in terms or reliability (especially that ford has been producing decent cars lately).

I have no first hand knowledge of the Charger, but I own a 2007 V6 SEL FUsion and here's my review of it.

It's one of the best cars Ford has made in quite a while. I've heard the 4 cylinder version is a bit noisy, but that the engine delivers good power.

The fit and finish are simply outstanding. In 3 months of ownership I have found zero defects. No weird gaps between parts, no rattles, everything works perfectly. It's a very fun car to drive. It's very roomy for a mid-sized car, both front and back. Very roomy trunk too. the V6 provides ample power, and is smooth and fairly quiet.

The gas mileage on the V6 is disappointing, with real world driving coming way under EPA estimates. I heard the 4 cylinder is much better with gas.

It's quite an attractive car. My Merlot Red Fusion has drawn several interested stares when it's all cleaned up and looking nice.

Consumer Reports agrees. Their April 2007 Auto issue gives the Ford Fusion top marks in safety and predicted reliability, and also gives it their top buy recommendation.

Recommend you buy the 2007, not the 2006. The 2007 made important safety improvements.

It depends on what you are asking about... better how ??? The Dodge Charger is better for quick acceleration, pulling large loads and better room wise... The Ford Fusion may possibly be built a little better, and it gets better gas mileage... it also has better traction in snow or rain because of the front wheel drive... In my book, I'd have to say the Ford Fusion is probably the better car reliability wise... but my preference would probably lean towards the masculine Dodge Charger... just because I prefer classic Detroit power cars !!!
