I would tell your mom that you will use a semi-permanent rinse to try it out!! Trust me that is better for your hair anyway. A rinse is a semi-permanent dye that washes out in about 3-4 regular shampooings. This way you can try out the color to see if you like it without having to commit to it and you won't damage or dry out your hair! (Permanent dyes seriously can dry out your hair.) Mom should be happy with a temporary trial period!!LOL!

Hair dye has come a long way even in the last ten years. If your mother is worried that the dye will hurt your hair you can tell her that the days of ammonia dye are over.
If she's worried about your 'look' and the crowd you want to hang out with, that's harder but you can get dye that won't completely wash out your natural colours which means a more natural look due to the variation of tone. Take her to the aisle of natural tone dyes and point out that the black one is there with them and not alongside the green and purple.
Point out that it would be good to get this out of your system while you're young.
If all else fails, your hair will be yours to do with as you like in a few years anyway; you may have to wait.

Talk with her & find out why she doesn't want you to dye your hair. Then let her know why you want to do it. Remember that keeping it up is a hassle. But the decision is up to her. If you can't convince her, then when you're 18 and on your own then you can do it. But don't hassle her about it or she may never let you do it. Good luck.

Don't go for something so dark. Talk to your parents and tell them why you want to dye your hair. Let them know how important it is for you. But if you are over 18 you have a right to do whatever you want!

Tell her about semi-permanent hair colors. They shampoo out in different amounts of weeks. but i warn you.....mine didn't wash out cause my natural color was too light and i had to go to the hair salon to dit for 4 hours to get the color stripped and my natural color tinted to get it back to normal.

I'm not trying to confuse you, I am just giving you the pro's and con's.

Hope i could help.

List out your reasons why. and if you can pay for it, then tell her. it takes quite a bit of money to keep dyeing it.

If you think having a different hair color would make you feel better about yourself, try and explain that to her.
