This happened about 30 miles from me, in Wesley Chapel, Fl. He was attacked by a rabid 25 lb. bobcat and managed to strangle it. DNR confirmed it was rabid and he and his neighbor have to receive treatment ( the neighbor only touched the bobcat after it was dead but still needs the shots)

Yeah, I saw that in Florida somewhere. A full grown Bobcat could put a hurtin on you real quit and I'm sure he's glad he choked it.

Understood it had rabies so the man is not out of the woods entirely and will have to undergo the shots more than likely.

I think Bobcats are protected in most places but I'd rather choke one and get arrested that become dinner or maybe lose a part of me.

I have lived long enough to believe that age is relative to who is talking about what. A young man may have lacked the decisiveness to take immediate action, if he had to weigh the moral choice of killing another living creature, especially if he was hugging a tree. A really old man might have decided this is a good way to die, and many will remember me. I personally would have gone down fighting like hell, and let the best cat win.

Haven't heard about that one, but a few weeks ago it was on the news in Houston that an old man killed a full-grown, Pit Bull dog that attacked him on the street. The Pit Bull jumped the old man and he killed it with his bare hands. He just got some slight cuts and scratches for his trouble.
