According to the Bible, divorce is only allowed when adultery is committed.
It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.
~Matthew 5:31-32 (New International Version)~
I do want to clarify that Jesus was saying that a man or woman should not marry the divorced adulterer.

Your marriage to Satan and your flesh God wants you to divorce your desires from this world.Ecclesiastes 11:10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.
1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
If you are willing to do this God will give you a new heart as he promised; Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Most people have to die to understand this, but God hates divorce likes others said and he does not prefer putting anybody away but he will to save others from evil entering into his Kingdom

Adultery or unfaithfulness is the ONLY way. It says in Matthew 19:9 "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
This is the only acceptable way according to scripture...

Be careful, humans, in saying what is and what is not God's Will.
Divorce very well may be in "the plan", even though divorce is an abused and undesirable practice.
Divorce is "not a sin" in the cases of infidelity and abuse.

for those who believe that only unfaithfulness can warrant a divorce...
if your spouse beats the crap out of you and your children on a regular basis, then is it God's will for you to suffer? what about abandonment? physical and emotional neglect?
i read a christian book once called 'sacred marriage' that said that marriage was designed to make you holy, not happy. it gave all these wonderful examples of people who had great character but lousy, abusive relationships. needless to say, i was very unimpressed.

It is never His will, He says that He hates divorce, but a person is allowed to divorce (but doesn't have to) a spouse, that is unfaithful and doesn't want to come out of their sin.

Never. Marriage is sacred and it is never God's will that marriage ends up in divorce. But He understands and allows it for our weakness.

Adultery.
However, I left because of domestic violence. I did not divorce him, he divorced me, so biblically, I guess I'm covered.

Shall we add to those who said adultery that it's only if the woman cheats? Gotta love the double standard.
