I struggle to make my way through college when girls my age who have popped out a kid or two get grants and foodstamps. Not only that but they constantly whine about how hard it is to go to school with a child and work. There is always one of these girls in one of my classes and it angers me to no end! Why do I get less when it comes to grants and loans just because I utilize birthcontrol and work fulltime? Bah, it just doesn't seem fair - there is no reward for responsibility.

I know for a FACT that these girl's EFC is zero. It is zero because they have a child, they get more money because of this - this is not just something I came up with. I don't care about making it easier for them to go to school - it should be easier for me because I am responsible. They made the choice to pop children out, they are the ones who should have to live with raising a child and going to college. As for the welfare of the child - adoption sounds wonderful. There are plenty of well-educated people who have plenty of love and money that want to adopt children.

Welcome the the bizarro world of liberalism. Where success is punished and failure rewarded.
The reason it happens is because "certain groups" of this country like to keep people dependant on government. Rewarding people who are generally failures doesnt really help them become more successful....What it does is keep them thinking that their key to living in this country is government handouts. As long as the government is giving those people free handouts, those people will keep voting for whoever is handing them out. Its kind of like when you feed a stray cat.....it wont ever leave. The enemy of those "certain groups" of people in Government is the self supporting person.
Now, with all that said. You are doing a great job without the governments help. Yes, its hard work. But in the end you and the country will be better for it. Keep up the good work.

One reason why those with children get more grants is because they are considered independent. If you are classified as a dependent student, your parent income is factored into your financial aid. For example, if you have a job and make $5k and your parent(s) make $60k a year, that's $65k of income. If a student with a child has a job and makes $5k, the school is only going to look at that $5k and award financial aid based on that.

However, I'm sure that if you were a student with a child, you'd be a little more sympathetic. It would be hard to take care of a child AND try to get an education. Everybody's situation is different. There's a lot that goes into making a financial aid decision.

One reason why those with little ones get extra supplies is brooding about the undeniable fact that they are known self sustaining. whilst you're categorized as a stylish student, your mother or father sales is factored into your financial help. case in point, in case you have a activity and make $5k and your mother or father(s) make $60k a 12 months, it particularly is $65k of earnings. If a student with a teenager has a activity and makes $5k, the employer is simplest going to look at that $5k and award financial help in reaction to that. even nevertheless, i'm sure that ought to you have been a student with a teenager, you would be a touch bit extra sympathetic. it must be difficult to maintain a new child and attempt to get an training. each and every individual's downside is unique. there is extremely lots that is going into making a economic help selection.

I share your frustration.
Wait until you enter the workplace where a college degree is taken for granted, or even criticized.
At my workplace, there is no regard for education. But these same individuals will praise their kids and buy them a car for graduating high school.
The streets are flooded with educated professionals, what counts more today is networking.

Life is not always fair isn't it? And makes you jealous perhaps. You should not worry about what others get. It may LOOKS certain way to you, but do you really know people? Grass is always greener on the other side. Just focus on yourself and do not wast energy thinking of others. Try to think how you can benefit others, and be tough on yourself. In long run, you will come out better, stronger, wiser......

Whose doing the whining now? You are!!!

You should spend less time worrying about what is bestowed on others and realize the good fortunes you have. Life is too short to spend it complaining. Life is not fair - if it was, guess what? it would suck!

Be thank-full you don't have to raise children while you're getting your education.

The best reward is to live well.

In the long run everyone gets what they deserve, and even if it seems like your getting the short end of the stick right now, when you are out of college you will see it was all worth it.

I know you are working hard but you should look at yourself than everyone else. You are not looking at the whole picture. Those girls are offered the grants so they have the opportunity to get off welfare and have a better life for themselves and their child/children.

Be proud of them that they are going in a direction instead of getting upset about it.

I think your question has a great deal of merit. As long as the government pays for a woman to pop out babies it will always be this way. They need to put a limit on how many babies they can pop out..
Some women just like to open their legs and drop their panties.
One mistake per person..........That's it.!
